My Innocent Mum ( well I can't say Virginal!!!)

Now for my last post of the day, my mother's birthday card.  No problem with posting it as she is computer illiterate so won't see it <g>

I have made one other 'white on white' card but it was for a DT and the image I had to work with was pretty difficult.  This time, being on the other side of the fence I found it much easier lol.  For this card I used the image 'Fern' from Delicious Doodles, beautiful in it's simplicity.  As the theme of the card is White on White I printed the fern in gray instead of black.  The card shape was cut on my Black Cat, I did it a little differently this time by doing it in two sections and then adhering them together with double sided tape, much easier than lining everything up on the mat and making sure all settings are 100% perfect.  I think I got a bit carried away raking just about everything I had in white out the boxes :) - I am sure we all know the feeling.  White twine, white pearls, White Lace Stickles even the double sided foam was white hahahahahaha.  I used Spellbinder butterflies which once cut were covered in Pearl Lace Stickles.  I have to blame my sister for the Stickles, one of my most use glittery items.  She bought the gold ages ago and I inherited it.  Being in Saudi I am often out of sync with what products are on the market and I sort of looked at the bottle of Stickles and thought 'that my come in handy'. I had no idea how handy.  On my return to Saudi from my UK visit, it was onto the Internet and order a whole load more in all sorts of colours from the States.  Ridiculous, it was cheaper to get them in the States and ship them to Saudi than to buy them in the UK.  What else did I do with this card, ooooo the pearls.  I am getting a little too hooked on pearls, love them to bits, I just wish they had flat bottoms.  The lace from the card is also inherited, this time from my Mum when she was going through all her sewing items to see what I could use on my cards.  It is rather nice to be giving it back to her in this form.

I kept the inside of the card very simple, a one layered insert  using silver pen to highlight the decorative border.  I finished off with another butterfly, this time made from the wax paper used when I made the original butterflies, as they say, waste not want not.

Recipe:

  • Digi - 'Fern' from Delicious Doodles
  • Card shape cut on my Black Cat
  • Dies - Spellbinder - les papillions - 4
  • Lace, pearls, twine, silver pen from my stash
I would like to enter this card in the following challenges:-
