Lovely Grapes

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.

Challenge #175

Theme ' In The Summer'

The sponsor for this challenge is Creative Craftworld The prize is 3 x promarkers. To win our main prize you MUST use an image that's available in StitchyBear Digi Outlet by any of our creators.  Remember to put a # after your name so I can find you easily. You can still enter with a none StitchyBear Digi Outlet image but will be entered into a separate draw to win $3 to spend in our store.

A very straight forward card, I do love Floppy Latte digi's, so much detail but I sometimes find them hard to work with as I don't want the artists work lost on the card.  This was very much the case with this card, no matter what I tried so in the end decided on a plain background in a colour to match the grapes with die-cuts to match, giving only the impression of dimension not clutter.  My sister, what a sport and she thought I was as mad as a hatter asking, knitted me the lacy bored in the most scrumptious kid mohair.  She was in the process of knitting me a lacy jumper in the same wool when I asked.  I love the lacy border on this card, a real Victorian feel and a bit of fun too :).  Thank you big sis for being such a good sport!!!!  The design was printed three times, base layer then the second two layers used to cut out the grapes, and my was the top layer a litter stinker to cut (each grape individually) but well worth it, this card has so much depth to it but only if you physically hold it or look closely with you know what I mean. Each layer is mounted on foam tape.  I know this card does not look very summery but what can be better than a glass of wine while enjoying warm weather, blue skies and the artists pallet of colours in the form of flowers and nature!!!!  That sounds like a little bit of heaven to me lol :)

  6. Well Jane, I saw the trials and tribulations you went through in coming up with a way to use this lovely grape digi, but I did not get to see the finished card. I must say, all your sweat and tears were worth it as you've produced a stunning card. The colours have such an amazing impact and I know I was sceptical when you wanted a lace trim knitted but you were adamant it would work and you were right, it does look effective. Pity you haven't got the cardi yet :-)I love the subtlety of your die cut background layer. Mind you, I've never known you to choose a glass of wine whilst you absorb the benefits of lazy, hazy summer days. xxxxx
