A Mother is

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.  The prize this month is an awesome digi pack containing several images and a paper pack too - how cool is that.

Challenge #232

Theme 'Women'

For my creation this week I thought I would make a Mother's Day card for my Mum, she loves lace and delicate cards so hopefully she will enjoy receiving this one :)  The sentiment digi I used is by CraftyGirl Creations and called 'A Mother is 1', isn't it just beautiful, fab words and gorgeous floral decorations too.  The image is available from the StitchyBear Digital Outlet

I wanted to do a monochromatic card so the many textures would show but remain delicate and the sentiment would hold the position of centre stage.  I printed the digi twice, one of the copies I changed the line colour to a light brown the other is the original (just in case the one with the line colour change did not look so good coloured I would have the other one to use instead).
Next I coloured the sentiment flowers with a Faber-Castell - Polychromos pencil and blended with baby oil - an experiment for me lol.  I have read that baby oil can be used as the blending solution but really didn't believe it would work as well as it did (what a saving on the purse strings too lol)
I then layered my card up with white lace, cream lace and a couple of die cuts from Tattered Lace.  The sentiment topper was mounted 4 time using alternate mats of cream and white.  I wanted to add some quilled flowers as I have not done any quilling for ages so set about making them.  However, when it came to putting them on the card it was just to much so they are now tucked away safely for another creation in the future.
To finish off the card I added a cream satin bow with a white organza bow and some pearls.  More pearls sprays were added to the lower edge of the card.

Ingredients:-
  • Image - 'A Mother is 1' by CraftyGirl Creations
  • Colouring medium - Faber-Castell - Polychromos and baby oil
  • Dies - Tattered Lace, die was from a magazine and I don't know the name of it
  • From my Stash - lace, pearls, ribbon
I am entering this card into the following challenges:-
Thanks for looking and hope you have a happy crafting day:)
