OSAAT - Angel 2

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.

We have some changes going on with the way we run the challenge, we are now going fortnightly with a prize for the random winner and badge for the Top 3 chosen by the DT.

Challenge #224

Theme 'Anything Goes with Giving Thanks

The sponsor is StitchyBear Digital Outlet with a 5 image November prize pack. Remember if you use one of the store items you can enter as many times as you want <g>.

At this time of year giving thanks makes one think of Thanks Giving :) :) but really we should be giving thanks all year round for so many wonderful things.  I decided to go down the road of giving thanks for the memories of a person who has passed over, a sympathy card.    I don't know about you, but I find, when somebody who has left an impression on you during their time on earth passes you are left with some wonderful memories to carry you through with your journey here on earth.  That is the basis of this card, 'Thank you for the memories'
To begin with I back the card with some beautiful soft rose flower design paper then overlaid with mauve lace.
With the remaining part of the design paper I covered the inside of the card and then used the border pattern from the DP to create the border in the card.
Next I coloured the image Angel 2 by IKEsART using Promarkers and Spectrum Noir blendable crayons.  For the background I wanted a marble effect to placed an embossing folder underneath before colouring with the SN crayons.
Colouring medium used.
I made a hat pin using colours from the image and as this is a sympathy card I wanted to add a cross charm.  Rubbish, the only ones I have include blue gems on them.  OK, make one lol. Using copper wire I added small beads again matching the colours used in the image and a heart bead at the top.  Strong adhesive was used to hold the beads in place.
The tag with the cross and a couple of bronze wing charms was tied to the hat pin with mauve ribbon.
I needed something else on this card but was pretty stumped, hand made flowers would be to heavy if made out of paper, a spray of flowers again to heavy and upset the balance of the card.  Then I remembered I had bought these glass flowers when I first started card making a few years ago from Lakeland but never used them as I try to make my cards (until now) to fit flat into envelopes.  Now I have some boxes for my cards I can make them a bit more bulky.  There were some pretty light purple ones in the box but the all had red gems in the centre and that wouldn't work.  Not hard to remove the red gem and replace them with purple gems and a pearl.  These were then attached to the bottom right of the card.
And here you have the completed card.

  9. Gorgeous card and a gorgeous soul for giving thanks in a sympathy card. I agree completely-when someone in your life has changed it, you have a need to acknowledge their life. Thanks for playing in the Path of Positivity challenge this month.

  10. Absolutely stunning, as always, Jane. I love how you've combined the paper and lace - it's subtle and beautiful, and I'm impressed with your creativity in coming up with a cross charm. I do love that image too - I've used it for a condolence card in the past, and it really is lovely.
