My Umbrella

Time for another challenge over at

Challenge 27
Raining Cats and Dogs

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, just remember, you must use and IKEsART image to be eligible for the prize.  Why not pop on over to the store too :), Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)
You know when you have an idea and get stuck on it then find you have no idea how to do it - yep that was me with the umbrella in this creation using My Umbrella lol.  I found some great wee graphics at IClipart which I used to make my background paper, couldn't be more perfect as the were wee cats and dogs falling as rain. I also printed my sentiment to represent a ribbon with text and used brown paper which I embossed for the bottom half of the card.  So here you see my background complete.
Now for the dreaded umbrella.  I really wanted a plastic see through one so started of using clear acetate and airbrushing with blues and oranges.  That ended up in the bin.  I tried again, more or less doing the same thing but with a gray base layer, that was binned too.  Then a brain wave, I have some blue plastic sheets, try that.  Great, success.  Now the next thing I wanted to do with this umbrella was to make it dimensional so I used and embossing tool and tried to get the shape a real umbrella would have.  Not bad until I put it agains the digi and it was totally off.  Another one for the bin lol.
Try again, this time after tracing the umbrella again and cutting I used my heat gun to shape the edges and make them turn in - now that worked - why did I not think of that before hahahahaha.
Onto colouring the digi (minus the umbrella) with Promarkers.
Promarkers used.
To finish off, first I added some matching ribbon, how cool, a perfect match and a copper line sticker. Next I made a couple of frames using brown and a pretty blue which were placed over the background layer. A couple of brad hears just because the corner needed a bit of attention. The umbrella was attached with a glue dot and then the wee fussy cut girl was placed over the edge of the frame and attached with foam tape so she really pops. Actually, I will let you into a wee secret, the foam tape is actually window insulation tape, I find this far stronger and more durable than the craft stuff we tend to buy to the point it is all I will use now.
