Himalayan Blue Poppy

What a lovely couple of days I have had, I so love Aurora Wings images :) :) I wish I had more time to do these wonderful images justice but life keeps on getting in the way. Anyway, yesterday and today I put the world to one side and took myself off into another dimension to create a card for the current Aurora Wings challenge - My Lucky Colour(s). It was just so tempting as I love colour challenges too and this one put me in my element.  So what is my favourite colour, it has to be purple, to me to most balanced of all colours in the spectrum. With purple being made up of reds (pinks) and blues and me believing in total equality for males and females this colour is the essence of equality hahahaha.  Apart from that, it is such a beautiful colour, so rich and sensual and easy to be with.

So onto my card now that you know all about my favourite colour.  I have used the image Himalayan Blue Poppy which I coloured with Faber Castell Polychromos.  I then fussy cut the image ready to place on my card.

Next I designed a couple of borders and cut these out with my die cutter.
My card is a black base and I have used a black mount which I covered with purple lace, nicely ruffled to give lots of texture. This pic is a bit bright but at least you get to see the gorgeous design on the lace and the ruffles. I then placed my die cuts on the left side.
With the base of the mat completed and the image fussy cut it was time to work on the embelishments.  Using one of the butterflies from Spellbinders Les Papillions 2 to cut my butterflies I then finished them off with two coats of 3D Crystal Acrylic.
Then I added some olive green glitter to the edges and two green pearls in the centre for the body.   I have not shown it here, but I then made a simple Birthday sentiment using black card and a silver peel off sticker which I coloured with a purple Promarker.
For the inside of the card I used a Spellbinders Grand-Nestabilities Labels 1 die and edged it with the same olive green glitter.  One of the butterflies was then placed on the bottom corner to carry the theme of the card through.
I edged the mat with some purple metallic pearl bead trim and attached the butterflies, sentiment and fussy cut image.

Ingredients:-

  • Image - Himalayan Blue Poppy by Aurora Wings
  • Colouring Medium - Faber Castell Polychromos
  • Dies - Spellbinders Les Papillions 2 and Grand-Nestabilities Labels 1, other dies by me

Daffodils

Morning peeps, hope you are having a good day.

I have a quick card today to share with you.  Yesterday I found out I had won over at Pattie's Creations and one of the prize images I chose was this wonderful daffodil circle.  I could not resist today making a card with it - think I must be eagerly waiting for Spring as this is the second daffodil card I have made this week.

Several mats on this card to give great height and I finished off by embossing the top layer with a Tattered Lace embossing folder.  Next I added a couple of swirl die cuts - Cherry Lyn b127 Tropical Flourish in yellow card and a doily die by Tonic using green gingham vellum.  The image was coloured with Promarkers.  I printed the image at 50% opacity as I wanted to go over some of the drawing lines with my green Promarker. I also added the sentiment before printing.  Finally a lemon yellow satin bow and some buttons were added to complete my creation.
The inside of the card was finished off with a strip of the patterned paper I used for the front of the card and another Tonic doily cut in the vellum which I then cut into two pieces.  A wee bit of yellow ribbon to carry the yellow through to the inside of the card and all done.
Ingredients :-

  • Image - Daffodil Circle Scroll by Patties Creations
  • Colouring Medium - Promarkers
  • Dies - Cherry Lyn b127 Tropical Flourish and Tonic Doily
  • Embossing Folder - Butterflies by Tattered Lace
  • From my stash - yellow ribbon, vellum, ribbon, chalk and buttons

Full Candle Wrap Around Wrapper Video

Full Candle Wrap Around Wrapper:-

So many folks have asked how I make my candle wrappers and create the shine of the finished product.  It is a pretty lengthy process and I had thought of using photos to make the tutorial but that went on for ever and ever so instead, I have attempted to put the info into a video.  Be gentle with me, this is the first video I have made :)

Fingers crossed this will answer your questions.

Birthday Elvis

A super fast post of a card I made today, alas no pics as I was going along as I was also trying to make a video of how I do my candles and what a frustrating job that was grrrrrrrr. I totally forgot to get my camera out for the usual snaps of how I put my cards together and to remind me on what I did hahahahaha.

Anyway, for this card I have used a digi I won in last weeks Passion for Promarkers challenge from the Birthday Elvis set by Digital Stamp Boutique.  Not my usual sort of image to work with but oh what a sweetie this hedgehog is and I had great fun :)

I used brown card and then layered more black, blue and dark brown mounts on top with a final mat of the same card I used for the base.  The black, blue and top mounts were all embossed with two different Embossilicous folders.  Spellbinders Grand Squares and Scallop Square dies were used to do the die cutting and I was over the moon to find the perfect ribbon in my stash to embellish my card with.  The image was coloured with Promarkers and I chalked the backgrounds on both the digi and the sentiment.  I should add, the sentiment is part of the Birthday Elvis pack too and what a corker it is, don't you think :)

To finish off I add a bit of micro glitter and and also stitching on the blue mount.

Than you so much Digital Stamp Boutique for my fab gift and Mr. Random for picking me out the hat :) :) :)

Ingredients:-

  • Image - Birthday Elvis and All about the Presents from Digital Stamp Boutique
  • Colouring Medium - Promarkers
  • Dies - Spellbinders Grand Squares and Scalloped Squares
  • Embossing Folders - Embossilicious
  • From my stash - ribbon and glitter

SPS Daisy Fairy

Sweet Pea Stamps

Today is my day to showcase and image from Sweet Pea Stamps and I have chosen to work with the beautiful image Daisy Fairy by Joanne Schempp which is available from the Sweet Pea Store in digi format.
To begin with I designed and cut my card sections.
Next I coloured the image with Promarkers.
For the matting behind the digi which I cut on my die cutter I added lace.  Only the edges of the mount were coloured to match the digi as the rest of the area will be hidden - no point in wasting precious ink lol.
I printed the sentiment and mounted in on a Spellbinder Scalloped Oval which I coloured the edges of in the same way as the other scalloped mount.
I then assembled all the sections of the easel card, adding pearl strands behind the image mount too.  It was then onto the bottom section.  I finished this off with some daisy vellum and a Spellbinder die Nestabilities-labels-20 for the writing area.  The sentiment was used to hold the top section in place when standing.  The daisies were made using Sizzix Mini Daisies and were finished off with yellow Flower Soft and some more pearl stems.
And here we have the finished card :)

Skelly Cup

Time for another challenge over at

Challenge 32
Paper Piecing

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, just remember, you must use and IKEsART image to be eligible for the prize.  Why not pop on over to the store too :), Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

For this fortnights inspiration I used the awesome new digi 'Skelly Cup' which Ike designed for me to use :) Thanks Ike, you are a superstar.  I do love these tea bag boxes and this digi was just perfect.  So here we go on what I did.

I seem to have deleted the first few pics off my camera but I started with cutting the template for my box.  I then printed the image 4 times for the paper piecing.  The first layer was the whole image as usual, second layer the saucer and cup, third layer just the cup and the top layer was the front section of the saucer.

Next I cut the front, back and side panel toppers and stamped these then embossed them with Silver Dollar embossing powder.  I also did the same with the handle section of the box.
The silver was way to bright, I thought I had Gun Metal embossing powder but alas not. To get around the problem I airbrushed the embossed areas with my black Promarker.  The image is showing this as a bit rusty but in real life it is more a metallic black.
I coloured the image with Promarkers and then used a die for the bottom section.  The sentiment just came to me as I was about to print, I did have something else in mind but my fingers did the typing and they came up with 'Time for a Brew' hahahaha.  Both the label and the image background were then distressed with black chalk.
Here you can see the paper piecing, I used 3D glue dots as I did not want to much of a gap between the layers.
To finish off these sections I use Black mica (Frantage) and some super strong sticky glue to attache the bits.
The panels, image and sentiment were glued to the box and tea bags added :).  Three buttons were added to the right hand side just to help balance out the front view of the completed project.
