Lovable Racoon

The challenge this fortnight at I ❤️Promarkers is
 'Add A Sentiment'

and the sponsor for this challenge is Paper Nest Dolls with a prize of 3 images from the store.

The image from Paper Nest Dolls I have used for our challenge is Racoon with Heart Box.

Image coloured with Promarkers and oh how naughty the Warm Grey markers were.  I ended up colouring the image 3 times with the first 2 attempts in the bin lol.  My Warm Grey no. 5 dried up on me so I tried a dark brown - the brown did not look right so bin that attempt and try to give my Warm Grey a drink of Alcohol Blending solution to revive it.  Yep that worked fabulously until it decided to leak a wonderful great big blob on the image grrrrr - second attempt into the bin.  For the 3rd attempt I just used Warm Grey 4, 3 and 2, still not as I would like it but a heck of a lot better than the first 2 attempts.  I am sure we all get days when the card we are making just will not come together as planned but we battle on and live to create another day hahah.  I fussy cut the image once coloured then went down the die cutting route for the background and sentiment using papers that were free many moons ago with a magazine and cream card.

Promarkers used  : - Warm Grey 4, 3, 2, 1, Ice Grey 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Black, Cranberry and Baby Pink

The Prize for the winner is 3 Digi Images

Solo

The challenge this fortnight at I ❤️Promarkers is
 'Embossing'
and the sponsor for this challenge is  SheepSki Designs  with a prize of 3 digital images from the Sheepski Designs store.

Lots of Promarker usage on this card :), I started by printing the image along with a second copy on printer paper which I used for masking.  Next I coloured the skin but halted on the colouring there as I had chosen the green I wanted to use for the background but needed to see it over a large area not just a swatch so I could choose suitable greens for the dress.  The image was masked and I air brushed the background with Pastel Green.  I left this overnight for the colours to settle down and in the morning re-did the skin to give more depth.  The rest of the image was then coloured and once again masked so I could heat emboss the music designs with gold embossing powder along with the sentiment.  I then cut a second sheet of paper and air brushed again with Pastel Green, added a music corner by heat embossing again in gold then ran the sheet through a music embossing folder before gluing to my card which I had already covered with a black base.  The image layer was mounted on black and I added a couple of gold peel off stickers to finish off before attaching to the card base.

Challenge #73
Anything But A Card

This fortnights challenge Anything But A Card has been chosen me, I hope you have lots of fun making something a little different for this time of year.  My youngest daughter is in the British Army and I made this for her to send to South Sudan where she was posted for 6 months back in June.  Although home for Christmas I thought this would also be a fun way to countdown the days until flying back.  With South Sudan being so hot a lot of the time I used a die cutting file by . . . . .  I have just spent the last 4 hours going through all my die cutting files and deciding to put them onto Evernote - found it lol - Summer Santa by My Scrap Chick.  I did make this project about 4 months ago in readiness to send to my daughter.  Oh dear, I am all over the place with this post hahaha :).  My daughter returned home early from South Sudan due to injury and is now awaiting an operation on her knee which is holding together with just a few very damaged fibres inside bless it.  She got the injury during an organised rugby match which she was asked to play in as from the age of 16 she has played rugby for various clubs pre army days and then for the army after joining but she retired a couple of years ago as she is getting old !!!!!!!! :) :).

The idea for this wreath was from Debi Durrant the Sheena Ink-ettes group on FB where she created an awesome wreath using one of Sheena Douglas's images in the centre.  You can find simple instruction on how to make a clothes peg wreath here.

Challenge #69
Halloween

This fortnights challenge 'Halloween' has been chosen by our DT sister CraftyGirl.  I have to admit I just don't get Halloween at all - I do understand the old meaning of Halloween or All Hallows' Eve and that makes sense to me, a time to think about those who have passed although I think about those who have passed that I know quite regularly not just on one eve of the year.  But - where did the giving of sweets and dressing up in costumes come from, why would a human try to emulate a departed spirit who would have no need for food anyway.  Yep, I am a party pooper but when something makes little sense other than commercialism I see no reason to partake.  I wonder how many kids, if asked what Halloween was, would answer 'ooooooo free sweets'.  I always used to keep a bowl of fruit ready for trick or treaters, they were not impressed and actually did not even want sweets, they wanted money!!!!!!!  Right, enough party pooping and although I found this a really hard card to make I have tried my very best lol.  I used Distress Oxides to create the sky and stamped a tree trunk, leafy tree top and witch.  I then die cut the fence, flower border and cat.  The cat was attached with foam tape for a bit of dimension.  I mounted the image layer onto silver and then black and placed this on my card blank which I covered with mulberry paper.

Roadworks Reg

Those dreaded potholes, think it is time for Road Works Reg to get to work fixing them hahahha.

How cool is this image, Road Works Reg from Dr.Digi I just love him, fun to colour and awesome theme.  You know when you have an idea in your head and somehow things evolve in a different direction throughout the creating process, well that is the case here.  I started with the digi and sentiment and build the card around that.  Initially I was going with a smaller digi size, (this size is by accident and I love how he is stepping off the white background) and creating some sort of construction background but my head was getting so confused I put that plan in the bin and went with the yellow and black 'warning' background instead. I printed Road Works Reg along with the pothole sentiment and once coloured cut my white square area with the exception of the bottom half of Reg which I cut with scissors.  I then created a simple diecut to go behind the image layer using SCAL and my die cutter.  The background paper was designed on Illustrator, nice and simple lol and the sentiment was also printed digitally as I could not get my yellow ink to be vibrant enough on black card.  Hubby then was called into action and I asked him to make me something on his new toy - a 3D printer so with the help of a bit of clipart hubby made my spade and pick-axe for me in brown and I used oil based paint to colour the silver bits.
