Believe in Tomorrow

As part of my indulgence day yesterday I decided to make something for no other reason than I felt like doing so :) :) :) For this creation I have altered an index card book which I saw in a shop and thought it was great as the cards are perforated - so easy to make a quick note and rip it out lol.
My first dilemma was how to cover the front of the book, first I tried colouring the top bit with my black Promarker but that was to fiddly and not very successful.  Next I had to get radical and dismantle the whole thing, just hoping it would go back together again hahahaha  I couldn't cross my fingers as I needed my hands to craft but I did keep my legs crossed.
After covering the front of the book I then scored where the holes for the spring binder go and then poked through with my fancy tool.  Next I wiggled it round a bit to make the shape of the original hole.
As this left lots of rough edges I then sanded it down.  Does not look great here but from the front it is pretty cool.
 Re-assembled and now I can uncross my legs :) :) :) :)
Onto the digi.  I used the beautiful image 'Believe in Tomorrow' by Aurora Wings.  I am so useless with chalks but I have tried here to blend some together that tone in with the backing paper.
I wanted all the flowers to be the same colour and match the touch of pink in the backing paper so I used three pink Promarkers and two blending pencils.  I can't say I found this easy at all, trying to make the flowers still stand out and not get lost in a mass of pink.  The blue was added for the butterfly as this will be entered into the Aurora Wings Butterfly challenge and just to balance that the fairy's dress was coloured in the same blues.  Stickles on the wings, pollen and some of the flowers were the finishing touch.

Colouring medium used
To create the frame for the digi I used Spellbinders Grand Labels 20
Next I used some small gold rings to ruffle the ribbon up and cut a border using part of the Spellbinder Fancy Weave die.
I forgot to take a picture but next I used a rose die and cut with the same paper I used for the border and frame which I partially laid over the coloured image.  Three pearl pink butterflies were added next.
The final bit to make is the pencil which is from IKEA - those of you who know the store will notice they have pencils to use on you order list, a couple normally walk out the store with me for future use :).  I painted the pencil with Extreme Glitter.
Almost there, next I made a wee charm for the pencil using some pearl beading, green ribbon and another of the pearl pink butterflies.  All the butterflies were finished off with Liquid Pearls and there is a half pearl at the top end of the pencil.
And here we have the finished project.

  16. I love making things just for fun. This is amazing. I love the idea of an index card notebook - have never seen one and will now be on the look out. You must have amazing patience to have done the disassembly job and then for that colouring which is stunning. At first glance I thought it was a colour print then I read what you had done. Awesome. Thanks for sharing at Anything But A Card this time.
