Just Inspirational

Just a quick post about the relaunching of Just Inspirational who are having a blog hop at the moment to celebrate.

What a nutter I am.  I am so used to seeing a challenge then making a card.  Off to the craft room it was, create the card for the challenge then hunt out the website again as I had not bookmarked it.  Looking at the linked area - no cards - that can't be right.  Alas, on a second read a card is not required to participate, just leave comments lol.  Here is my card I made for a challenge that did not require a card :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Recipe:-
  • White linen card from Craft Creations
  • DP designed by me using the colour inspiration photo which the team members used
  • Die Cut by Jess of Floppy Latte attached shape mount with foam tape then shape mount also attached to card with foam tape.
  • Ribbon, feathers, button from my stash
Pop on over to Just Inspirational and join in the fun.

A Special Card

OK, so I have called this card 'A Special Card' for a particular reason.  It is my sisters Birthday card and I know she will be checking the blog but it is not her Birthday yet, in fact she will have to wait a month before getting in.  I am trying to fill space so you don't scroll down Ingrid and have a sneak peek at your card but I think I am going to fail <g>

I have recently started making digital stamp and paper packs which are available through the StitchyBear Digital Outlet and the inspiration for this pack is from a photo I have of my sister's cat called Millie. Beautiful Millie was a lucky cat, not the most beautiful on the outside but so special on the inside.  She had had a bit of a rough start to life and my sister, on a visit to the cattery for strays fell instantly in love with her and took her home.  Alas Millie is no longer with us but she was a very special girl and a good friend to my cat Boss.  I honestly believe, when a cat chooses to love you, you know you have a friend for life.  They are such independent creatures who make many of their own choices in life, so when they allow you to share their world with them it is a very precious time.   I know this card has the words on the front relating to the special friendship and there is no sign of "Happy Birthday', this is because I suspect my sister will frame this card to put on her wall and I really don't think she wants to be reminded of how old she is every time she looks at it!!!!! :) :) :)  I hope when my sister does read this she will have a loving, warm feeling inside knowing Millie is imortalised in the digital world.

Although I have not taken a picture of the inside of the card I did finish everything off.  Although I only used one of the design papers from the Coosty Creations pack on the outside I did use the others for the insert.  The inside and I had a bit of a bad time, it was all fine until I decided to use a Fiskers corner punch to add some hearts.  Grrrrrrrrr stupid punch decided to lock up on me, no amount of tin foil or wax paper pre punching to keep it working has worked.  The end result was a bit of paddy from me as I banged and banged the punch on the table to make it release it's locked jaws from my paper.  In the end, not only did it release it jaws it fell apart :)  I just had to take a picture of the punch before it was chucked in the bin.

Recipe:-
  • Purrrfect Digital Stamp and Paper Pack by Coosty Creations, available from the StitchBear Digital Outlet
  • White Linen cardstock from Craft Creations
  • Dies which I cut on my Black Cat
  • Digi was coloured with ProMarkers - Pastel Beige, Umber, Pastel Pink, Cool Aqua, Arctic Blue, Petrol Blue and Metallic Copper.  Digi and dies were attached with foam tape for a 3d effect.
  • Lace, gems, charm and foam tape from my stash

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.  Before I go any further I would just like to say a big thank you to all the new followers who have joined my over the past few weeks, I hope you are enjoying the creations that find their way from my craft room to my blog <g>.  Without further ado, onto this weeks challenge:-

Challenge #165

Theme ' Make it Stitchy'

This weeks challenge is a bit different.  To participate you MUST use an item from the StitchyBear Digital Outlet, it may be a digi, design paper or a die cut.   Now this weeks sponsors ... Are us. Us being the Design Team. We have collected items for creating cards/ scrapbooks. Some have been hand made by our DT members too :O) We had a theme to follow which was April showers bring May flowers ;O) Next month we will have another mega prize challenge so the DT girls that aren't featured in this months prize will pop up next month ;O) Random org will pick all the winners.. So you could win 1 or more of these gooorgeous prizes.Don't forget, if you spend $3 or more then you also get the free weekly digi, what a brilliant offer.
For this weeks challenge I had to choose a digi by the awesome designer Claire of Hope Jacare and I just could not resist the beautiful 'Cockatoo', a digi I fell in love with some time ago.  This was a great fun card to make and one of those that, when completed was just like the image in my head right at the start.  I used a photo of a cockatoo which I took on a trip to Australia as the inspiration for the colour and decided to layer it with silver.  Pink and sliver Stickles were also used to decorate the cockatoo.  My sister, who so lovingly comments every week is going to hate this card - sorry Ingrid, please don't look :) :) :) - she hates feathers and birds follow a close behind.  I love birds so this is one area where we will never talk the same language.  I have a feeling it was this packet of pink and white feathers I picked up on a shopping trip with my sister which I opened in her house and a whole load fluttered out!!!!

Recipe:-
  • White Linen card and pale pink shimmer card from Craft Creations
  • Silver paper from the Paper Box
  • DIgi -  'Cockatoo' by Hope Jacare
  • Lattice card topper, digi mount, sentiment and sentiment mount - designed by me and cut on my Black Cat.  This was mounted to the base card with foam tape
  • Feathers and gems from my stash

Praying Hands

Well what a creative couple of days and I am so pleased with the outcome.  I have been designing more Coosty Creations digital stamp and paper pack which are available at the StitchyBear Digital Outlet.  The latest pack is Praying Hands which will be uploaded in the next day or two.  I just loved the colours of the coordinating papers of this pack and decided to make a card to see how they went together in real life so so speak and here is the end result :)

Recipe:-
  • White Linen card from Craft Creations
  • Digital papers and digi stamp 'Praying Hands' by Coosty Creations (this pack will soon to be available in the StitchyBear Digital Outlet.  A quick mention here, StitchyBear Digital Outlet is having a 35% off sale of all the items so how about popping over and having a look.)
  • Digi  and sentiment were coloured with Promarkers Pastel Beige and Sandstone
  • Spellbinder - Fantastic Flourish 1 - I use wax paper when using the dies and have been thinking, the wax diecut really shouldn't be thrown in the bin but could be used as a very soft accompaniment to the main die being cut.  This is something I am pretty sure I will be doing more of in the future as I love the effect.
  • Corner punch heart, ribbon, bow etc from my stash.  For the life of me I can't remember the company who made the punch but it is pretty old lol

I know I'm Cute!!!!

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.

Challenge #164

Theme ' Use a Digi'

The sponsor this week Stitchy Bear Digital Stamp Outlet with a prize of all the images the design team used in challenge #162 - WOW what a fabulous prize so come on over and join in.

This week it was Ali's turn to choose a stamp to create with and she chose 'I know I'm Cute' by Reeces Scrap Pieces.

I thought I would try something a little different and make a window card with the digi on the inside.  I don't normally make cards like this as I find they can sometimes be rather flimsy but the way this one was layed out with the window to the fold side of the card it worked just fine.

So do I have a story to go with this card, alas really, except the word YUK comes to mind.  When I first made this card I used a lovely blue card create the Spellbinders die cut at the bottom right.  I looked pretty good until I took the photo and then the YUK appeared.  The blue was totally the wrong colour and did nothing for the card except create bad karma.  I left the card until the next morning to see if it was just the camera playing games with the light and took another picture.  Alas the camera was telling the truth so it was back to the craft room with card in hand for surgery.  I opted for the safe route and re-did the Spellbinder die in white.  I think it looks much better and hopefully some wee girl will like receiving this cute card.

Recipe:-
  • White Linen card from Craft Creations
  • Digi -  'I know I'm Cute' by Reeces Scrap Pieces which was fussy cut and mounted with foam tape.  The head and hair were coloured twice, the second decoupaged on top of the main digi.
  • Striped DP and spotted DP made by me
  • Rectangle frame die cut - Spellbinder - A2 Fancy Weave
  • Corner die cut - Spellbinder - Fantastic Flourish three
  • Flower Soft - Heather (used for the girl to stand on and also covering a brad on the tags)
  • Brads from my stash

Coosty Creations

Wow, exciting times <g> .  I have just started creating design paper packs which include a digi as well for the StitchyBear Digital Outlet.  The last two weeks have been a mammoth creating time and I have put together 18 paper packs which are now available in the store.

The packs contain 4 digital papers created at 300 dpi and designed for all levels of card making.  Sometimes, there is not much time when you need a card in a hurry and having to look through all your design papers, layering them up, matching colours etc can be so time consuming.  The pack will save you loads of time as the papers are all co-ordinated to work well together and the accompanying digi follows the theme too.  You don't have to use all the items in the pack at any one time <g> feel free to pick and choose what items you want to use for any of your projects.  At the moment, most of the pack are suitable for men, yep the dreaded men who are so difficult to make cards for :) :) :) but there are a few flower packs up there and more to come.

I love Japanese items and yesterday put this pack together.  It is not in the store yet but will be available later this week and this morning I made a card using all the papers from the pack and the digi.

Well, I had best sign off, coffee is require and so much to do so little time <g>.

Hugs Jane

All Red White and Blue

I do so love Mo's images and can't resist buying them :)  This digi was a bit difficult to work with, I think because you are looking down on her.  Hopefully I cracked the layout by placing her on a carpet, I really think it looks like she is dancing her way to success <g>.

Recipe:-
  • White Linen card from Craft Creations
  • Digi - Rosa from Mo's Digital Pencil
  • Blue cut out design by me and cut on my Black Cat
  • gems from my stash

Quiet Contemplation - a thoughtful moment

Wow - a mammoth project today but I am rather pleased with the outcome :)  I have not made a candle for ages and the Delicious Doodles pushed me in the right directions, fun to do something different for a change.  No stories to go with this project, it went together without too many hiccups and the only injury was a cut finger from that nasty craft knife, not as bad as the one a few weeks ago on my thumb so not really an issue.  I do get so annoyed with myself for being careless but my name in childhood was Calamity Jane and I guess I have never really outgrown it!!!  I use tissue paper for my candle wrappers which are applied to the candle using a heat gun.  To finish off I use candle varnish gloss which is a water based varnish and will not set you house on fire!!!!
Now for a side view of the candle, I used the name of the stamp 'Quiet Contemplation' and on the right side placed it at the top, the left side of the candle has the same text but placed at the bottom. To break up the green I added some Bronzing Powder in gold which is especially for candles and (along with the varnish) available from Fullmoons Cauldron.
I know the challenge this is for is 'Anything but a Card' but I had to make a card to go with it but it is not part of the challenge entry.  For the card I used the same digi - Quiet Contemplation by Teri of Delicious Doodles and added a text sentiment.
 A quiet moment
A quiet thought
Thinking of you
Recipe:-
  • White Linen card from Craft Creations
  • Pink mount printed
  • Black and green mounts using paper from my stash
  • Digi - Quiet Contemplation by Teri of Delicious Doodles
  • Butterflies using die from Spellbinders  - les papillions - 4
  • Gold paint pen and ribbon from my stash
  • Tissue, candle varnish and gold bronzing powder for the candle

I've got wheels!!!

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.

Challenge #163

Theme ' Summer Fun'

The sponsor this week Craft World with a prize of 3 ProMarkers.

A wonderful prize I think as we can never have to many ProMarkers amongst our supplies :) You can still enter without using a StitchyBear digi and the prize for the winner is $3 to spend in the store.

This week I had to choose a digi from our wonderful designer 'Pookie', what a difficult job as there are so many brilliant creations to choose from.  In the end I opted for 'Skate Boarder' available from the StitchyBear Digital Outlet.

I think I set myself a personal challenge with this card, I chose the skate-boarder digi as I don't make many cards suitable for males then got around to designing.  I had an idea in my head and it came together pretty well, keeping an urban feel to the card with a city skyscape using clipart elements from IClipart and then building my own concrete (well paper in my case but representing concrete <g>) skate park.  I love the idea of having the only colour on this card in the sun and the digi.  I added the 'fun in the sun' ribbon which I have had for ages and a Happy Birthday sentiment and then stepped back but something was not quite right, something else was needed.  Time for a text change.  More text but what?  Totally blank, I just could not think what would work with this card and aiming it at a teenage the usual sentiments I use for birthdays were not ones they would appreciate I am sure.  This is a hard card not a soppy one!!!  Then the light bulb switched on and I thought of skateboarding terms, surely something like gliding etc would work fine.  I don't know the first thing about skateboards other than it hurts when you fall off <g>)  Just to be sure I headed over to Wikipedia to see what they had to say - no gliding there but a bunch of very strange terms for maneuvers made.  OK - a different world from one I understand and just in case you are in the same boat as me here are the meanings of the words I have used on the card - enjoy hahahahahaha and if you are any wiser after having read them then I give you a gold star as I am still lacking understanding :)

Fakie: rolling backwards; the rider is in the normal stance, but rolling in the opposite direction.(Basically a switch nollie position)

Goofy-Foot: a skater who more comfortably rides with the right foot leading.

Ollie: performed with the front foot (N/ollie nose ollie) Can be referred as a fake or switch ollie, or it could be added as a prefix to describe any other trick performed in fake or switch stance (Nollie 360 Flip, Nollie Kickflip, Nollie Lazer, etc.)

Crooked Grind: a nosegrind where the nose is angled toward the object and the tail is elevated.

McTwist: a backside 540-degree turn usually performed on a ramp (generally a mute grab).

Recipe:-
  • Digi -  'Skate Boarder' by Pookie Designs, mounted with foam tape and a second arm/hand created and mounted on top again wtih foam tape to help it 'pop'.
  • City skyline and sun background - from IClipart
  • Urban skate park by me and cut out in three sections to add dimension.  Sections were mounted with foam tape
  • Spellbinders Exquisite Circles for the sun
  • X-Cut large tag
  • Ribbon and brads from my stash

For this week I had to choose a Panda Bear paper pack and used the paper to make my card.  Oh so many choices to choose from but in the end I opted for the Imagine pack, I had totally fallen for one of the papers in particular, wonderful warm gray and pink colours.  The digi I used for the outside of the card is one I have had for a long time from Floppy Lattes called Funky Flower, it just screamed to be decoupaged and I felt would work perfectly with the DP.  For the inside of the card I used another Floppy Latte digi, one of those that is so handy to have called You Inspire Me, I have used this digi so many times, it is going to be an all time favourite I think.

Recipe:-
  • Panda Bear paper pack Imagine
  • Digi stamps by Floppy Latte - Funky Flower and You Inspire Me
  • Card from Craft Creations
  • Die cut design which I created and cut on my Black Cat,  It was inspired by one I once saw on Crafts U Print

Angel Baby

Just a quick post with today's card.  Beginning to get worried, two pink cards in two days although you can't see the other at the moment <g>  You will have to wait 4 weeks for that one lol.

I haven't made a baby girl card in a long time so thought for the Digi Darla Challenge of Celebrate it would be the perfect excuse to make one.  It is a bit of a heavy card with a total of 5 layers but I think it turned out rather sweet.  So here it is.  Must apologies for the photo, it is a bit squint - sorry.

Recipe:-
  • While Linen card and pink card from Craft Creations
  • Digi - Angel Baby Stars which was fuzzy cut and the head, limbs and stars also decoupaged
