Peony Corner

Challenge 119
Die Cuts

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

I have had this jigsaw die for absolutely ages, think I picked it up in a sale knowing I had got a bargain then never used it.  How fabulous is it for this challenge :).  To make my card I embossed some design paper and used it to cover my card blank.  I then printed Ike's digital image, Peony Corner and coloured it with Promarkers.  Using the jigsaw die for the cutting of the image I then mounted alternate pieces using 3D tape. onto pink pearl paper.   Finally a small happy birthday die which my daughter gave me last Christmas, Oh and another die cut lacy square which I used under the image layer.  I have no idea what was going on when I photographed this card, so squint and I apologies for that, must have been a bad day lol.

Ingredients:-
  • image - PEONY CORNER by IKEsART
  • colouring medium - Promarkers and Prismacolour
  • other items - sentiment stamp

Challenge #165

Theme ' Make it Stitchy'

This weeks challenge is a bit different.  To participate you MUST use an item from the StitchyBear Digital Outlet, it may be a digi, design paper or a die cut.   Now this weeks sponsors ... Are us. Us being the Design Team. We have collected items for creating cards/ scrapbooks. Some have been hand made by our DT members too :O) We had a theme to follow which was April showers bring May flowers ;O) Next month we will have another mega prize challenge so the DT girls that aren't featured in this months prize will pop up next month ;O) Random org will pick all the winners.. So you could win 1 or more of these gooorgeous prizes.Don't forget, if you spend $3 or more then you also get the free weekly digi, what a brilliant offer.
For this weeks challenge I had to choose a digi by the awesome designer Claire of Hope Jacare and I just could not resist the beautiful 'Cockatoo', a digi I fell in love with some time ago.  This was a great fun card to make and one of those that, when completed was just like the image in my head right at the start.  I used a photo of a cockatoo which I took on a trip to Australia as the inspiration for the colour and decided to layer it with silver.  Pink and sliver Stickles were also used to decorate the cockatoo.  My sister, who so lovingly comments every week is going to hate this card - sorry Ingrid, please don't look :) :) :) - she hates feathers and birds follow a close behind.  I love birds so this is one area where we will never talk the same language.  I have a feeling it was this packet of pink and white feathers I picked up on a shopping trip with my sister which I opened in her house and a whole load fluttered out!!!!

Recipe:-
  • White Linen card and pale pink shimmer card from Craft Creations
  • Silver paper from the Paper Box
  • DIgi -  'Cockatoo' by Hope Jacare
  • Lattice card topper, digi mount, sentiment and sentiment mount - designed by me and cut on my Black Cat.  This was mounted to the base card with foam tape
  • Feathers and gems from my stash

I know I'm Cute!!!!

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.

Challenge #164

Theme ' Use a Digi'

The sponsor this week Stitchy Bear Digital Stamp Outlet with a prize of all the images the design team used in challenge #162 - WOW what a fabulous prize so come on over and join in.

This week it was Ali's turn to choose a stamp to create with and she chose 'I know I'm Cute' by Reeces Scrap Pieces.

I thought I would try something a little different and make a window card with the digi on the inside.  I don't normally make cards like this as I find they can sometimes be rather flimsy but the way this one was layed out with the window to the fold side of the card it worked just fine.

So do I have a story to go with this card, alas really, except the word YUK comes to mind.  When I first made this card I used a lovely blue card create the Spellbinders die cut at the bottom right.  I looked pretty good until I took the photo and then the YUK appeared.  The blue was totally the wrong colour and did nothing for the card except create bad karma.  I left the card until the next morning to see if it was just the camera playing games with the light and took another picture.  Alas the camera was telling the truth so it was back to the craft room with card in hand for surgery.  I opted for the safe route and re-did the Spellbinder die in white.  I think it looks much better and hopefully some wee girl will like receiving this cute card.

Recipe:-
  • White Linen card from Craft Creations
  • Digi -  'I know I'm Cute' by Reeces Scrap Pieces which was fussy cut and mounted with foam tape.  The head and hair were coloured twice, the second decoupaged on top of the main digi.
  • Striped DP and spotted DP made by me
  • Rectangle frame die cut - Spellbinder - A2 Fancy Weave
  • Corner die cut - Spellbinder - Fantastic Flourish three
  • Flower Soft - Heather (used for the girl to stand on and also covering a brad on the tags)
  • Brads from my stash

Dolphin Birthday

Now dinner is done and dusted I can upload my second and last card for the day.  It was such a rude interruption to have to vacate my chair and occupy the dreaded kitchen but I really should not complain as hubby is so good at taking his turn <g>

This card was specifically designed for the Delicious Doodles challenge - Make it Fishy.  OK, I know a dolphin is not a fish but it does swim in the sea so is close enough I think.  I was itching to make this card all day after seeing the challenge last night and just having to go buy the digi I used which I have had my eye on for some time, it is just so goooorrrggeous don't you agree.

As usual, I really wanted to show the digi off and had thought of using some wonderful water velum I have stashed away but then thought, material.  I have not made a card using material instead of DP for ages and knew I had what I thought would be perfect in my drawer.  The material was a scrap given to me by a friend (also in four more colours) which she bought of an event here in Abqaiq, Saudi Arabia, to decorate the tables.  I tried to pucker it up to make it look like the motion of the sea but by the time I had added the text border, digi and embellishment it kind of got hidden, never mind, I know it is there and you can feel it in the real world.

Recipe:-
  • White Linen card from Craft Creations
  • Digi - Leaping Dolphins by Teri of Delicious Doodles
  • DIes - Spellbinder - grand scalloped ovals and  fantastic flourish one, Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 4pk - Borders by Rachael Bright
  • Background is material from my stash
  • Sentiment by your truly
  • Pearls, Stickles, gems, dolphin charms and Extreme Glitter also from my stash.
