Iris

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.  The prize this month is an awesome digi pack containing several images and a paper pack too - how cool is that.

Challenge #231

Theme 'Anything Goes with Birthdays'

For this fortnights creation I am working with the Iris digital stamp and paper pack by Coosty Creations available from the StitchyBear Digital Outlet.  The pack contains the image to colour and four papers.

I love giving these boxes with tea bags in to my friends and I think they like getting them too lol.  I designed the template for the box a wee while ago so my first job was to gut it out.
I then embossed each of the sections with an Embossilicious A4 embossing folder.
Next, using one of the papers from the pack I cut four panels and glued them to four panels I had cut using the same mauve card as the box.  I then distressed the edges.
The mounts were attached to the box and I added some ready pleated lace in the just the perfect colour around the top edge.
Next I coloured the image with Promarkers.
While thinking (which I occassionally do :) ) I thought it would be rather sweet to add some peel off corners to each of the bottom corners.
Next I moved onto the toppers.  Using Spellbinders Ovals, Scalloped Oval, Circles and Scalloped Circles for the image and the sentiment.  The sentiment was stamped with a Just Rite stamp.  Before attaching the sections together I added some white lace around the edges of the image and sentiment parts, I then attached these to the rear sections which also used the paper from the pack.  Liquid pears were added around the edges of the toppers too.
And here we have the completed box (well almost complete - just needs some tea)
 Now it is complete :)

Ingredients:-
  • Image and Paper Pack- Iris digital stamp and paper pack by Coosty Creations
  • Colouring medium - Promarkers
  • Dies - box design by me, Spellbinders Ovals, Scalloped Ovals, Circles and Scalloped Circles
  • From my stash - lace, corner peel off stickers and Liquid Pearls

OSAAT - Orchid Beauty

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.

We have some changes going on with the way we run the challenge, we are now going fortnightly with a prize for the random winner and badge for the Top 3 chosen by the DT.

Challenge #220

Theme 'Anything Goes with a Flower'

The sponsor is StitchyBear Digital Outlet with a 5 image September prize pack. Remember if you use one of the store items you can enter as many times as you want <g>.

This week I worked with the image Orchid Beauty Digital Stamp and Paper Pack by Coosty Creations.

Yesterday when in IKEA I managed to find the type of mugs I have hunted for for ages, the ones you can put your own paper insert into.  I know they are readily available in the States but shipping to Saudi is to costly for that and if I bring them in from China I have to buy a huge quantity, far more than I can use.  Anyway, I was over the moon to find them yesterday and so today have used one for my creation.

I used two of the papers that come with this pack (there are four in all in the pack with the digi) to create my background and place the digi on top.  All this was done digitally.  I then printed my project.
Next I coloured the image with another another new pressie I bought myself - Faber Castle Inktense oil crayons - wow I am in love, I thought it would be hard to find something to match my Promarkers but these certainly do :)  I also shaded a bit behind the hexagon so it would have a 3d effect.
Here is a close up of the flower - not the best pic as I photographed it on my knee with only a light behind me, the colour is a bit wrong too - sorry :)
Once this was all coloured I used the liner which came with the mug as a template and cut what was needed - part of a cone shape.  This was then placed inside the area designed for inserts and there we have it - a new and unique mug :)

Embrace

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.

Challenge #206

Theme 'Anything Goes'

The sponsor is StitchyBear Digital Outlet with a 7 image prize pack. To win main prize you MUST use an Image from our store. Runner up prize for person using none store image is $3 to spend in the StitchyBear Digital Outlet. So everyone can win something ;O).

This week I worked with the Coosty Creation Embrace Digital Stamp and Paper Pack.  The pack comes with four themed papers which can be used with the digi.  You can of course, use just the papers or just the digi in your creations but these packs are great as the digi and the papers are coordinated to work together making sure you have just what you need to make a beautiful project with little fuss.
I first printed the digi and coloured with Promarkers
Next I prepared all the items I would need for this card; 2 of the papers from the paper pack one of which I used a heart border punch on. The tag was made using one of the papers and the text 'embrace, love, accept' printed digitally and cut with Spellbinders Circle Scallops and Nellie's Multi Frame Round Doily for the copper base.  Spellbinders Circle Scallops were also used to cut the circles which are part of my embellishment. I hunted out some brown ribbon, heart shaped brads and some metal disk.

Steampunk Horse

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.

Challenge #190

Theme 'Anything Goes'

The sponsor this week is StitchyBear Digital Outlet with the complete set of images that the DT used in challenge #188, to win this prize you MUST use a digi from the StitchyBear Digital Outlet.  Runner up prize for winner using none store image is o$3 to spend at our store.  So everyone can win something.  The StitchyBear Digital Outlet has over 20 creators so it really is worth popping over, you are bound to find something you would to use :)

For this weeks design team creation it was Ali's turn to pick a digi for our team to work with from Coosty Crations and she chose the 'Steampunk Horse Digital Stamp and Paper Pack' for us <g>.

I used the papers from the digi pack for the background layer and second layer.  The second layer was then embossed with the X-Cut Tri-Boss Clocks folder, this was then attached to the background layer and edged with copper peel-off line stickers.  Next I printed the digi and coloured with ProMarkers and embossed the grey areas with clear embossing powders, just for that bit extra dimension.  I fussy cut the horse and attached to the card with foam tape.  The cogs were cut in bronze and black card and I used X-Cut labels to cut the label from copper card too, a Happy Birthday peel off was added to this.  To finish off I added a small coin charm with Queen Elizabeth's head on it (the closest I could get to Victoria lol), both this and the sentiment tag were attached with brown twine.  The insert for the card was created using the same two papers from the digi pack that I had used on the front of the card and some clipart of cogs.

Ingredients:-
  • White Linen card and Peel-Off sentiment from Craft Creations
  • Digi - Steampunk Horse Digital Stamp and Paper Pack by Coosty Creations available from the StitchyBear Digital Outlet
  • Dies - X-Cut Cogs and Labels
  • Embossing folder - X-Cut Tri-Boss Clocks

Robin in Wax

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.

Challenge #189

Theme 'Holidays'

The Prize this week is the full pack of brand new images issued by our creators especially for this challenge

Now,we know that there can only be one winner but here at OSAAT we do like to spread some 'love' to fellow Card Crafters so, for a limited period this awesome 'Holiday Themed' pack will be FREE to anyone who spends $10 in the Stitchy Bear Shop.

For my submission this week I decided to create a candle, I have not made one for a while:) I used the Coosty Creations Robin Digital Stamp and Paper Pack which is one of the items you get in the collaboration selection.  The digi was coloured digitally and superimposd onto the backing paper with a frame made from a second paper from the digi pack, a sentiment was then added.  I then printed on tissue paper and adhered to the candle using a heat gun.   For the base I used Lea'bilities Wreath For All Seasons using the wreath and holly leaves.  Each leaf was attached with silicone glue so I could place them at different angles and to finish off I added red stickles to represent the holly berries.

Ingredients:-
Digi - Robin Digital Stamp and Paper Pack by Coosty Creations

Purple Infusion

Hello folks. We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.

Challenge #180

Theme ' Use A Digi'

The sponsor this week is StitchyBear Digi Outlet with a prize of the full set of digi images that the DT used in challenge #178 - WOW that's worth around $20. To win this prize you must used an item from the StitchyBear Outlet. You may still enter using any digi but the prize for winning will be $3 to spend in the outlet.

It was my teamie Ali's turn to chose a digi for Tammylee and me to work with and she chose Aubrietia Digital Stamp and Paper Pack Pack by Coosty Creations.  The pack comes with one digital stamp and four complementing digi papers.  I decided not to use the papers on the front of the card as I had another idea but did use one for the insert.  As with everything, it is not always the case of using everything at hand - sometimes I find, less is more <g>.

To begin with I created a cut out design which I cut on my Black Cat using purple card.  Originally I was using one of the digi papers behind the cut out but there was just to much going on, so as I mentioned earlier opted for not using it.  Instead I used mauve pearlized card which I had at hand.  Now with no texture and two plain colours, all be it one cut out the card looked flat.  What next - should I emboss?  And then a creative moment arose lol.  I remembered trying sometime in the past, to use bleach to rubber stamp with to remove the dye from the paper leaving the bleached outline.  I never managed to achieve this as I guess the only bleach I could find in Saudi was not the super thick strong kind.  Off I went to the kitchen to see what I had under the kitchen sink which I could put in a spray bottle.  I have Clorox so tried that - I was aiming for a speckled look on the card so spraying was the obvious choice.  Clorox did not work then I remembered there was a big bottle of some sort of bleach in the cupboard - try that.  I poured some into the spray bottle and began misting the card.  Odd smell - this was not bleach but natural vinegar (which I use with bi-carb for cleaning).  To my amazement it worked a treat although the card did not smell very nice for a while - it was almost good enough to wrap fish and chips in.  Oh how I am sure all my British pals will remember how good fish and chips were when they were wrapped in newspaper, so much better than these dreadful polystyrene boxes used now!!!!  Back to my card.  I was really pleased with the outcome so back to the craft room to carry on.  Still having the urge to continue spraying I raked out Blue Shimmer Misting Spray - now that could really work and give the contrast needed to bring this new piece of card to life.  So there you have it, new card made for my cut out design.  One thing hubby has mentioned here - acetic acid may eat the card away in time so to neutralize it spray afterwards with bi-carb or baking powder to stop the reaction. I then cut the digi three times and decoupaged it, finishing off with bisque Liquid Pearls for the flower centres.  I used Spellbinders scalloped circles, the smallest die, to cut the sentiment backing and used the bisque liquid pearls there too.  Both these sections we attached to the card with foam tape, the cut out layer was also attached with foam tape. Purple gems were added to selected areas of the cut out design and the finishing touches of a heart gem and bow were put in place.  Hope you like what I came up with, certainly had fun with this one <g>.

A Special Card

OK, so I have called this card 'A Special Card' for a particular reason.  It is my sisters Birthday card and I know she will be checking the blog but it is not her Birthday yet, in fact she will have to wait a month before getting in.  I am trying to fill space so you don't scroll down Ingrid and have a sneak peek at your card but I think I am going to fail <g>

I have recently started making digital stamp and paper packs which are available through the StitchyBear Digital Outlet and the inspiration for this pack is from a photo I have of my sister's cat called Millie. Beautiful Millie was a lucky cat, not the most beautiful on the outside but so special on the inside.  She had had a bit of a rough start to life and my sister, on a visit to the cattery for strays fell instantly in love with her and took her home.  Alas Millie is no longer with us but she was a very special girl and a good friend to my cat Boss.  I honestly believe, when a cat chooses to love you, you know you have a friend for life.  They are such independent creatures who make many of their own choices in life, so when they allow you to share their world with them it is a very precious time.   I know this card has the words on the front relating to the special friendship and there is no sign of "Happy Birthday', this is because I suspect my sister will frame this card to put on her wall and I really don't think she wants to be reminded of how old she is every time she looks at it!!!!! :) :) :)  I hope when my sister does read this she will have a loving, warm feeling inside knowing Millie is imortalised in the digital world.

Although I have not taken a picture of the inside of the card I did finish everything off.  Although I only used one of the design papers from the Coosty Creations pack on the outside I did use the others for the insert.  The inside and I had a bit of a bad time, it was all fine until I decided to use a Fiskers corner punch to add some hearts.  Grrrrrrrrr stupid punch decided to lock up on me, no amount of tin foil or wax paper pre punching to keep it working has worked.  The end result was a bit of paddy from me as I banged and banged the punch on the table to make it release it's locked jaws from my paper.  In the end, not only did it release it jaws it fell apart :)  I just had to take a picture of the punch before it was chucked in the bin.

Praying Hands

Well what a creative couple of days and I am so pleased with the outcome.  I have been designing more Coosty Creations digital stamp and paper pack which are available at the StitchyBear Digital Outlet.  The latest pack is Praying Hands which will be uploaded in the next day or two.  I just loved the colours of the coordinating papers of this pack and decided to make a card to see how they went together in real life so so speak and here is the end result :)

Recipe:-
  • White Linen card from Craft Creations
  • Digital papers and digi stamp 'Praying Hands' by Coosty Creations (this pack will soon to be available in the StitchyBear Digital Outlet.  A quick mention here, StitchyBear Digital Outlet is having a 35% off sale of all the items so how about popping over and having a look.)
  • Digi  and sentiment were coloured with Promarkers Pastel Beige and Sandstone
  • Spellbinder - Fantastic Flourish 1 - I use wax paper when using the dies and have been thinking, the wax diecut really shouldn't be thrown in the bin but could be used as a very soft accompaniment to the main die being cut.  This is something I am pretty sure I will be doing more of in the future as I love the effect.
  • Corner punch heart, ribbon, bow etc from my stash.  For the life of me I can't remember the company who made the punch but it is pretty old lol

That's all for now.  Thank you for stopping by and happy crafting days.  Hugs Mimi
