The Natural World at Christmas (no robins)

This fortnights challenge 'The Natural World at Christmas (no robins)' has been chosen by Sall.  I thought I would try stamping on wood for this challenge and do glad I did, it worked brilliantly.  

I found a great wee box template to cut this box which is made with 3mm -ply.  It is the first time I have tried what is called, a living hinge.  Instead of creating hinges the wood is cut to make it flexible so it easily bends round curves. Once the box was cut on the laser I then wood stained the section with Light Oak to keep a natural look and then stamped a reindeer on the front and trees around the sides using Stazon.  The stamps used are from Creative Stamper monthly magazine. This is such a sweet wee box and so perfect for the Christmas dinner table with a small gift inside.  To make it more personal I would be changing the reindeer for the person's name :) :)

Birthday with Biffo

I can think of a few people this card would be perfect for, my hubby being one of them hahaha.  He thinks birthdays are rather over rated to the point he often forgets a family birthday - yes even mine ROFL.  For this card I covered the card base with green paper then added a layer of hand made paper which I had mounted on black paper then embossed.  Biffo by Dr. Digi was coloured with Promarkers then die cut with the square stitching die.  To this I then added the ribbon bar from a bow making die and also the die cut birthday sentiment which was mounted on foam tape for a bit of height.  It was devilish trying to die cut the soft hand made paper which I had used double sided adhesive backing on, especially the birthday cut.  In the end, after 3 attempts I left the die cut paper in the die, pressed this hard onto white card and then, with the cut still in the die used the die to cut around with my craft knife.  Worked a treat and I was able to stop any ripping or deforming of the die.

Challenge #102
Off to Dinner

This fortnights challenge 'Off to Dinner' has been chosen by Hazel.  Great theme Hazel, this had my head baffled ROFL.  In the end I opted for a Dinner Invite card.

I used some fabulous old DP from Crafter's Companion in the days when they had free digital downloads, gosh that must be about 6 years ago.  I then coloured the digital stamp Prom Princess by All Dressed Up in colours to match the paper.  The sentiment was added digitally and to finish off a wee bit of lovely pink ruffled ribbon.

I have used the image 'Celebration Cake' for my card.  Now I have to be totally honest they are not my usual favourite colours, I am a purple and blue lass lol but on the morning I woke up with the making of this card in mind my favourite colours at that moment were yellow and pink lol.  Image coloured with Promarkers, several layers to the card and some lace and a pre-made flower bouquet to finish off.  This one turned out to be costly ROFL as I have now noticed my square stitching die has stretched on one side and cannot be fixed so an online visit to Craftstash to replace the square stitching set grrrrr :)

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :) 

For this months Tic Tac Toe challenge I followed the line - Embossing, Buttons, Stitching Faux or Real.  

Ike's digi called Fat Kat was the perfect image to etch on the top of this tiny wooded bayonet box which is only big enough to hold a few Dreamies and and also closes using a mechanism which is cat proof lol.  We have a couple of adorable furbabies, a brother and a sister.  Bree, the sister is a real junk food eater but she has a figure we would all want - eat what you want and not get fat lol, oh how she loves her treats.  Often Jeeves, her brother, leaves his treats, he would rather sleep than be eating all the time ROFL so a wee cat proof pot is going to be very handy to pop his spare treats into.

My box design is called a bayonet box and was cut using 3mm plywood on a laser.  I etched the Fat Kat image and also faux stitching on the lid and designed and cut a small cat to use as a button too.   

After the cutting and etching the lid I wood stained it and then embossed it with gold embossing powder.

This looked great but the embossing powder did not hold well so I peeled it away the background and really blasted the melting of the embossing powder left on the cat area until it bubbled nicely lol.  A real distressed outcome but looks cool.  Next I sorted the attaching of cat button which was also wood stained.  

And as you can see, this really is a wee box, only big enough for a few treats - the perfect Fat Cat gift for the cat that needs to diet :) :)
