Just a Note

For this card I used some amazing paper I had in a box or bits and bobs I had collected which I then embossed with and Embossalicious 6x6 folder.  I coloured a digi by Nicecrane Designs called Dolls From Japan # 3 DS  which I added a grey edge to and cut out in a circular design.  Black lace was ruffled and added around the edge of the digi circle and then this was attached to the card.  Marianne Design Craftables - Branch 2 was used with black card and three black buttons were added as the finishing touch.

Kingfisher In The Rushes

Just a quick post with this Kingfisher card.  I used two copies of the fab digi by Delicious Doodles so I could fussy cut the kingfisher. The top layer was then embossed with clear embossing powder and attached with my beloved foam tape for added dimension.  The lace was originally white but I coloured it with ProMarker Duck Egg so it would match the card.  Liquid Pearls were used on the lattice work and around the edge of the curve.  The insert was printed and the edges finished off with Pearl Ex - not used them before as had no idea what to do with them but decided to go round the edge of the insert with my Zig-Zag glue pen and apply the Pearl-Ex with a paint brush - worked a treat and will be using this method again in the future <g>.  I used copper to match the colour of the rushes, you can just see it peeping through behind the lattice work.

It was my teamie Tammylee's turn to chose a digi for us to work with and she chose this fab image called Lady Pirate by our awesome creator Ike.  Not my usual image to work with but perfect for the 'out of the box' thoughts.  I have a pet hate for guns of any description and it was the pistol in the digi which jumped out at me.  All I could think of was bullet holes <g>.  Following that thought I designed a background paper with lots of bullet holes all over it.  The grey colour scheme I think happened accidentally - obviously I was in a grey area with the pistol made worse by the bullet ridden DP lol. The DP was then embossed with an Die'sire embossing folder.  l I coloured the digi with ProMarkers and fussy cut her, attaching her to the card with foam tape on the rocks section. The ship image is from Iclipart which I cut out and placed so it appeared to be coming from behind the rocks.  Just to impress my sister I have added a real feather to the pirate ladies hat - it is a really lovely white fluffy one (sorry could not resist):)


With not having made an easel card for a while I thought I would make this card one.  On the inside/base of the card I added a Happy Birthday greeting and placed it around yet another bullet hole - this is certainly a bang bang card!!!!

It's a Bug Day

A fun card to make <g>  I used Spellbinder dies to make the easel card and a new digital stamp and paper pack called Ladybird Luncheon available from the StitchyBear Digital Outlet.  ProMarkers were used for the colouring of the 11 ladybirds - yes I counted them <g>.  I added green leaves for contrast and some white roses, then to finish off the cutest wee ladybirds which I have had for a while but just adore <g>.  Black ribbon with red spots was added as it was just perfect for this card I think.  The sentiment reads 'Happy Birthday Beautiful Lady'.

CAS Thank You

A very simple monochromatic CAS card, For this card I very simple coloured the digi in a light aqua colour, leaving the black of the digi to do the talking so so speak.  The digi was mounted on a background using the same colour and this in turn was mounted on the backing paper which is a gradient for the same colour to white.  Thank you text was added and again the same aqua blue was used.  For contrast black lace was added to the digi mount and, my favourite, a few pearls - I just love pearls <g>

New Coosty Creations Digital Stamp and Paper Packs

A Walk In My Garden

Had something for a while which really appealed to you when you bought it but then it never really fitted in with anything you do.  This is the case with this card - I bought the .svg cutting file for the card shape last year because I just fell in love with it - so unusual, but I have never really had just the right digi to use with it until last week when I got this beautiful digi from Nicecrane Designs called 'Doll From Japan 2' by Ignacio - just perfect I think <g>

For this card I cut the card shape with my die cutter on plain blue card then sprayed with my Promarkers (a mixture of blues and mauves).  I did modify the cut file as the digi was hidden behind the front bar, so that was cut away. Next I squirted on some Shimmer Mist in blue and purple.  I only wanted a textured background, nothing to fussy as this would distract from the card shape and digi but just adding the sprayed colour was not quite enough, it looked flat.  Light bulb moment - skeleton leaves.  I sprayed the skeleton leaves with the same ProMarker colours I used for the background (and the Japanese Lady) and stuck them along the top of the card.  Next I printed the digi twice so I could separate the lady from her parasol allowing me to create two layers, which once coloured, were reassembled with foam tape for dimension.  The two layer digi was then attached to the card with a double thickness of foam tape to give a further 3D effect to this card.  Out with my compressor again and the ProMarker air brush attachment to colour the flowers, again using the same colours as the background.  I cut the sentiment out of vinyl and stuck on the card - the sentiment is the Kanji symbol for Love.  My every trusted gold paint pen was used for the gold accents.

I was going to publish this card yesterday but ran out of steam so this morning set about the task.  After looking at the card again I really felt it needed more attention.  I don't like cards which you have to write on the back of and this card was one of those, so I decided to create it into a front card overlay by sticking it to another card blank which I made in matching card.  Next I added some butterflies, there was too much dimension stuff going on at the bottom of the card and I needed to carry that around a bit to create balance.  OK so more butterflies on the bottom too but with the one on the top right corner and a couple behind the flowers and fence it worked a treat.  I added pearls to the fence and in between the flowers too - a bit of elegance never goes amiss.  Finally, for a bit of fun I added a colour co-ordinating bee with acetate wings, I wanted it to be one of those things you only see when you look at the card closely.  Right now onto the photos as I am sure I have bored you more than enough <g>

Your Majesty

Just a quick post with a fun card I made today.  I seem to have done a lot of more serious cards recently so thought I would go bright and cheerful with this one <g>.

I printed the background paper and embossed it with a folder but I can't remember th e company who made it and it is in another room of the house lol.  The stripy paper was designed by me and also printed.  I used one of my favourite dies - _Anjas Vintage by Marianne Designs and used this as a matting behind the stripy layer.  I used two digis by Digi Darla ' Momma Queen' and the sentiment 'Your Royal Highness'.  The Momma Queen digi was printed twice so I could cut the head and the crown separately and overlay them to create dimension.  The crown section was embossed with the same embossing folder I used for the background.  Pink gems were added to the tops of the crown.  ProMarkers were used to colour the fave and hair and I just could not resist adding a few funky pink curls :) :) :) :) (those who know me will know why!!!).  My trusty gold paint pen came in handy again for the earrings and embossed areas of the crown.

No story to go with this card, I am not a boy, I don't go to school and I don't stand on stools anymore in case I fall off :)

I invested in some wobbles while in the UK and the first one had to be used on this card - mighty impressed, what a cute dimension to cards wobbles make.  I should pay more attention to prices when shopping as I saw today I paid 5 pounds for the pack of 12 - is that a rip off or what for a bit of plastic cut into a spiral with a couple of sticky bits on either side.  Just checked the price in the States and see I can get 4 dozen for $24, working at 3 dollars to 2 pounds stirling that is about 8 pounds - ooooooo I have been ripped off once again by buying in the UK - naughty naughty Hobby Craft - maybe they should be sent to sit on the naughty stool!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I sooooo hate the silly high prices for items in the UK compared to other countries, no excuses - there are just some super greedy companies around it is not all down to taxes.  Moan over (I think) :)

Mary Christmas

One of these days my number will be pulled out the hat to win 5 delightful (or dark) Delicious Doodles digis <g>.  I know I am one of those folks that who never wins in raffles, the Lottery etc (no complaints, I have won in life in far more important ways), but I keep trying lol.

I have also decided which type of challenge I like the most and which the least.  I just love colour challenges, absolutely tops, fabulous fun, yep totally ACE.  My least favourite are sketch challenges - I find them so so hard.  So saying that, and being out of my comfort zone a bit to often this week with yellow cards I thought I would add to that and join in a sketch challenge (Passion For Promarkers) - yep glutton for punishment lol.

For this card I used the digi Mother Mary by Teri of Delicious Doodles.  There have been a bunch of cards recently which I see have use dies to make the card shape.  Usually I use my Black Cat to do this but recently I invested in the Spellbinders Grand Caliber so thought I would give it a try.  Rather pleased with the outcome <g>  DP was used for matting along with the white paper with the sentiment, the latter being embossed.  The digi was coloured with Promarkers and and also die cut.  I edge the die cut with Promarker Midnight Blue for contrast and attached to the card with foam tape.  In keep with the sketch I am following I added navy organza ribbon to the left side and a large snowflake to the right bottom.  The snowflake was cut with a die and attacked to the card with silicone so I could create the height, a pearl was added to the centre of the snowflake.

Gone But Not Forgotten

I don't have many sympathy cards at the ready in case they are needed and the ones I have are mostly blues or mauves (my favourite colours <g>) so, with that in mind and having had a bit of fun outside of my comfort zone I thought I would create another card for the Addicted To Stamps colour challenge - Canary, Grey and Black.  I don't often enter more than one card into a challenge so this is a bit unusual for me.

For this card I matted with black for the high contrast.  Next I printed the digi - Flower Cross by Jim of Justinklined and my chosen sentiment.  The digi was masked so I could create the graduated yellow to grey I used Promarkers - Canary, Ice Grey 1, 3 and 4 which were applied with my trusty spray gun.  Next I coloured the digi, again with the same Promarker colours.  To finish off the digi I printed it a second time on vellum and coloured the flowers with, guess what <g> Promarker Canary and the blender pen, these were then cut out and bent a bit to give them dimension then attached on top of the original flowers in the digi.  The centres were dotted with Yellow Stickles and one blob of grey Liquid Pearls.  I used some white lace which I again coloured with the Canary Promarker and then added some lovely velvet leaves ribbon I had hiding in my stash.  Finally I added some white flowers which I coloured with canary again, the pearls were white so I coloured them and the stems with my black Promarker.  Think that just about sums up what I did <g>.

Serenity

I have had a lovely afternoon playing in my craft room <g>.  I saw a challenge over at Addicted to Stamps who have a colour/creator challenge on the go and I just could not resist.  Some time ago I got a free digi from Nicecrane Designs and now I have a chance to use it.  With the challenge being only three colours and the digi having a background I decided to use the canary colour to create a sunset appearance.  I coloured the background in shades of grey digitally and printed.  I then used Promarker Canary and the spray gun system to add shades of yellow over the grey.  The photo is showing a bit of pink going on in the grey coloured areas - sorry about that, must be the way the light is reflecting.   Bit of masking going on too as I did not want the swans to be coloured yellow <g>.  Next step was to colour the swans, I used ProMarker Ice Grey 1 and 3 along with the blender pen.  The front swan was fussy cut and adhered with double sided foam tape for extra dimension.  Gold was added to the beaks of the swans as I could not colour over the black with the Canary Promarker with any success.  I created the background paper to co-ordinate colour wise as I did not seem to have anything that matched.  The card was matted with a layer of black, a layer of grey, pattern yellow layer.  The digi was matted onto black as were the two sentiments.  I added three black vinyl cut strips and white lace to the backgound then assembled the card.  To finish the sentiments off I added a used the gold pen around the edge of the black layer, added black ribbon, metal charm and yellow button and mounted with foam tape. The birthday sentiment was also matted in black, 2 metallic yellow brads were added and again this was mounted with foam tape.

Music - the Language of Love

I don't know what I was playing around at last night, I woke up at midnight and ended up designing a card and then went back to sleep.  On waking up properly at a more sensible time I was rather pleased I had not dreamt the whole thing lol.  After coffee and wake up time I toddled off to my craft room to turn the card from design stage into reality.   For this card I used a digi by StitchyBear called Duet, it is such a stunning digi and I have been longing to use it for a while.  The Promarkers were in full action, not only used to colour the digi but also use to colour the white lace, the pearls, the flower centres, the paper for quilling the flowers, and the shaded background for the sentiment area.  Yep, I go my moneys worth out of them on this card :)

Artees in Green

Theme ' Use A Digi'

It was my teamie Ali's turn to chose a digi for us to work with and she chose this awesome image called Artees by Barbara Jensen.  I was rather daunted as to what to do with this image when I saw it, totally loved it but had no idea how to make a card with it.  This is my third design, yep, it was one to design, leave a few days, come back to it and see if I still liked what I saw before I started making it.  The background is made up of a collage of dies, Stickles and gems - some how that seemed to really work.  Initially I was going to use all sorts of crafty items, brads, gems, glitter, material, paper - just about anything I could get my hands on and then at the last minute changed my mind to this idea which was inspired by a tiled image I had on my computer, alas I don't know who created it.  I just love the colour scheme of this card and the final layout, lots going on but not fussy and therefore keeping the digi as the main focus of the card :).  Once the background was created the digi was coloured with Promarkers and fussy cut then attached to the card with foam tape for added dimension.  The quote is from a new book I have with quotes in it - yep handy to have around :) - Fill your paper with the breathings of the heart by William Wordsworth.  It was rather amusing as flipping through the book to find a suitable quote, I was not winning, then decided to look at the front index and there was the perfect quote and the first one in the book too as part of the introduction.  Yep it was meant just for this card :)

Little Mermaid

What a lovely day and so much achieved.  I have been on a mission to make 48 Christmas cards, they are all the same so not much in the way of interest and I am so glad I managed to finish them this morning.  I even had enough time to make a card so decided to on something non Christmas and rather girly even if it is not pink!!!!  Those who know me know I don't like pink much lol.

Fly Away

Oh dear, I had a project I was meant to finish today, 48 Chirstmas card!!!!!  Been at them for the last three days and only had to assemble them but half way through I got throughly bored - how uprising is that :).  Now I am going to blame Teri of Delicious Doodles for putting up a new challenge today which I had a peek at (no intention of making a card for it today but ......), butterlies, and how I love butterflies.  So I bundled up the Christmas card into four bundles and pushed them to one side to finish tomorrow and indulged in making a butterfly card.  What colour - my favourite - purple, ummmm yep, pink - no did one of those the other day and I don't like pink much anyway, blue - ahhhhhh yummy but I seem to have made a few blue card recently.  What is left - only those hot colours the one group I am never comfortable being around.  I don't wear red, orange or yellow, I don't decorate a room with red, orange or yellow and I don't like colouring in red, orange or yellow.  What the heck, I had decided to indulge in making a card instead of doing what I was meant to do so as a form of punishment I will make a yellow/orange butterfly card. Not really a punishment, I blocked out the fact I was working in these colours and must say I love the outcome but I think that is more to the design idea :)

For this card I used the Spellbinder Grand Nestables Squares and used one of the middle sized to cut the aperture out of the card.  I then printed the Irish blessing on yellow vellum, cut to size and embossed then stuck this behind the opening.  I really wanted a translusent looking background instead of DP for once.  Next I cut three copies of one of the butterflies in Teri's set - Butterflies so I could decoupage it.  After colouring with Promarkers I cut the top set of wing from one butterfly and mounted onto the main butterfly, then the next layer was the body.  To finish off I use bronze embossing powder as an accent.  Now to assemble, I use skeleton leaves which had been coloured yellow through to orange, so glad I had them in my stash as I think they look fab, finally I added a big material flower from a bag of them I bought in some mad moment a few years ago, put in a drawer and forgot about.  Flowers like these are not my cup of tea but today they served their purpose.  Yes, I do like this card, different from my norm but certainly bright and great fun trying a few new things.<g>.

Monochromatic Kittens

I have made this card for my sister who has just joined us over at OSAAT as the Comment Coordinator - going to be so much fun having her on the team <g> .   A bit of a challenge for me using only greys - Promarkers Cool Grey 1 through to 5, not something I have done before and with such large areas to colour it was rather hard but I am pleased with the outcome for a first attempt.  I used black Promarker to colour the white heart sticker and wee hearts. the main heart sticker was then mounted on silver mirror card and carefully cut out.  That was a nightmare to photograph :) as the reflection and etc kept bouncing colours off it.  After taking about 10 photos this was the only one that pretty much had no added colour lol.  card layers, black, white, black, white with digi and each layer was finished off with silver line stickers, just for a tiny bit of bling against the high contrast areas.

Lovely Grapes


Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.

A very straight forward card, I do love Floppy Latte digi's, so much detail but I sometimes find them hard to work with as I don't want the artists work lost on the card.  This was very much the case with this card, no matter what I tried so in the end decided on a plain background in a colour to match the grapes with die-cuts to match, giving only the impression of dimension not clutter.  My sister, what a sport and she thought I was as mad as a hatter asking, knitted me the lacy bored in the most scrumptious kid mohair.  She was in the process of knitting me a lacy jumper in the same wool when I asked.  I love the lacy border on this card, a real Victorian feel and a bit of fun too :).  Thank you big sis for being such a good sport!!!!  The design was printed three times, base layer then the second two layers used to cut out the grapes, and my was the top layer a litter stinker to cut (each grape individually) but well worth it, this card has so much depth to it but only if you physically hold it or look closely with you know what I mean. Each layer is mounted on foam tape.  I know this card does not look very summery but what can be better than a glass of wine while enjoying warm weather, blue skies and the artists pallet of colours in the form of flowers and nature!!!!  That sounds like a little bit of heaven to me lol :)
