Buddhist-Bernie plaque

The image used for this pyrography plaque is Buddhist-Bernie by Dr. Digi House of Stamps.

Playing around with a bit of pyrography is a bit of fun, nice and relaxing and not thinking about colour combinations makes a change lol.  The digital image was placed into Illustrator and from there I added the text and corners.  This was then printed onto tracing paper (in reverse) and transferred to the wood plaque I used using high strength acetone and a spoon - small areas are wet using a paint brush and the acetone and then rubbed with the back of the spoon to copy the image onto the wood.  To finish off I wood stained the plaque using inks watered down.

I did find this rather challenge as I made the image large to hold centre stage on the plaque and as I am very much a dabbler in pyrography trying to get the material effects and shading but keeping the clothing, cushion and Buddha areas distinctive was a real bit of trial and error.  Saying that, I do like the way he turned out :).

Fairy Tea Party

Sweet Pea Stamps

Today is my day to showcase and image from Sweet Pea Stamps and I have chosen to work with the beautiful image Fairy Tea Party by Katerina Koukiotis which is available from the Sweet Pea Store in both rubber and digi.

Time to make another of my tea bag holders which I so love giving as gifts :)   I started by cutting all my sections for the tea box holder from a pattern I made.  I then covered the box with some awesome hand made paper a friend brought me back from her holidays, the colours were just perfect for the digi I had coloured earlier.  Before attaching the hand made paper I embossed it with a Spellbinders embossing folder, not a deep embossing as the paper is very soft and did not want to hold the embossing well.
Next I went to town with lots of die cuts.  The image was mounted on turqouise card, the same card the box was made from and also some matt gold card.  I added one of the a Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 4pk - Borders to one side and a Spellbinders Les Papillions 2 butterfly. Another of these butterflies was added to the back of the box, and in the centre of each butterfly I add a small turquoise butterfly gem.  For the label I used Spellbinder Ornamental Tag 1 and added another butterfly gem.  For the swirls I added around the box I used Spellbinders Floral Flourishes.  All the die cuts were cut using the same turquoise card I used for the box and the matt gold paper which I glued on one side, this gave me die cuts which matched the box both from the front and the back sides.  A little gold bronzing powder was added to the top rim of the box and there we go, all done.

Hot Chocolate Fairy

Sweet Pea Stamps

Today is my day to showcase and image from Sweet Pea Stamps and I have chosen to work with the beautiful image Hot Chocolate Fairy  by Janna Prosvirina which is available from the Sweet Pea Store in both rubber and digi.

I think this is a bit of a quick post, for some reason I forgot to take pics as I was going along, oh well, guess it happens every now and again lol.  I have made another of my tea bag boxes but this time given it a coffee theme and added sachets of coffee, these boxes are so handy as gifts so I always try to keep one or two handy :) :)

To begin with I used a box template I designed and cut on my Black Cat. Next I coloured the image with Faber Castell Polychromos and mounted both the image and sentiment on dies cut from Spellbinders Scalloped Ovals and regular ovals, lace was added behind the image layer.  Next it was out with the lace, a stash of lace my Mum gave me ages ago after she stopped sewing, how cool to have lace just the perfect colour, navy and milky coffee lol.  I then added some blue and gold ribbon round the top edge.  The image was cut using Spellbinders Ovals and the mount behind is is Spellbinders Scalloped Ovals.  Lace was attached behind the digi mount.  The same theme was used for the sentiment, the only difference was using circles instead of oval.  Both the digi and sentiments mounts have chalked backgrounds to link into the coffee theme.  A few weeks ago I made a daisy card and had designed an cut out mount for it, seeming such a shame to throw the daisy bits that were left I tucked them away for a rainy day.  Yep today is raining so time to use them up lol. The were originally cut using white card so I coloured them with Promarkers and then sprayed them with Glitter Mist for a bit of sparkle.  I finished off the daisy flourishes with some Bisque Liquid Pearls.

Ingredients:-
  • Image - Hot Chocolate Fairy  by Janna Prosvirina
  • Colouring Medium - Faber Castell Polychromos
  • Dies - box and flowers by me, Spellbinders Scalloped Ovals and Regular Ovals
  • From my Stash - lace, Liquid Pearls, ribbon and Shimmer Mist.

Buddies

This card really is all about the image :) :) which I coloured with Faber Castell Polychromos
The card front was just some very simple layering, the red layer was embossed with an Embossilicous folder and I added a sentiment which I computer generated along with the the title. The only dies used on the front was for the sentiment - Spellbinders - Lables 22 and one of the wheels from Xcut-Chronology-Cogs.  For the inside of the card I used Spellbinders-Grand-Nestabilities-Labels 1.  The background of the image was coloured with chalks, I was trying to get a bit of a distressed look going on :) :) :)

Ingredients:-
  • Image - Buddies by Lynne Stansbery
  • Colouring Medium - Faber Castell Polychromos
  • Dies - Spellbinders - Lables 22, one of the wheels from Xcut-Chronology-Cogs and Spellbinders-Grand-Nestabilities-Labels 1

Precious Moments

Sweet Pea Stamps

Today is my day to showcase and image from Sweet Pea Stamps and I have chosen to work with the beautiful image Precious Moments  by Charity Dauenhauer which is available from the Sweet Pea Store in digi format.

I have had this image for a while and totally forgot about it - wonder how many of us do that :) :) Anyway, I spent a weekend colouring up several images for upcoming creations and this one one of them, isn't it just so precious.  The image was coloured with Promarkers and the sun/moon was edged with a silver pen which I smudged around to try and create some flare.
I came totally unstuck with the background, just did not know which way to go.  In the end the chalks won and I used several shades of blues.  For the final layer I put an embossing folder underneath and pressing quite hard with the dark blue chalk, rubbed over to pick up the texture. Chuffed with this, it worked a treat.
Great, the background sorted now onto the card.  Oh dear - dead brain.  I knew what I did not want to do but seemed to have no idea what I did want to do.  Several cups of coffee later I came up with a plan. This card has certainly not been an easy one by a long shot :)
I ended up going for a twisted easel card with a very lacy look just using dies. I just adore the Tattered Lace die I got on a magazine a year or so ago and for this creation I cut it three times.  Two of the cuts were left whole and the third I cut into a couple of sections and attached them to the whole die on the front.  The image was cut with a Spellbinder Oval and mounted on the Tattered Lace Antique Oval die.  To finish off the die cutting I then added a tiny butterfly to link in with the image using Cherry Lyn Designs Mimi Butterflies and used mauve card for the underside of the wings.  The sentiment was a simple silver congratulations which I had to cut down to Congrats to fit into the area created by the inner cut of the Tattered Lace Antique Oval die which is a buckle to which I threaded wide organza ribbon through.  Finishing off I added a large white double organza bow with a safety pin charm and a blue button and then a spray of pearls.

On the inside of the card I used some blue patterned vellum and then added the third of the Tattered Lace rose cuts I made.  Some pretty ribbon with baby items was attached on the lower edge and a writing area using Sizzix - 657938 which I mounted with foam tape.  There we are all done :) :) :)

Forget Me Not

Sweet Pea Stamps

Today is my day to showcase and image from Sweet Pea Stamps and I have chosen to work with the beautiful image 'Forget Me Not'  by Rachel Anderson which is available from the Sweet Pea Store in  digi format.

I started adding my text to the image before printing, there is another wee bit to the text which is not shown here and is used on a mount later on.  Next I coloured the image with Faber Castell Polychromes pencils.
After cutting all my mats on my die cutter I set to work on completing the topper text section.
With the basic bits now all done it was time to assemble. I started by embossing the two square mats with an Embossilicious folder.  The blue mat was attached to the card.  The white one had lace applied and then was also glued to the card.  The digi section had a string of iridescent pearls glued round the edge and then I placed this on the oval blue mount.  For the inside of the card I used Spellbinders Scalloped Square and then I cut eight Tattered Lace Doily Coners, four for the inside of the card and four for the outside.

Ingredients:-
  • Image -  'Forget Me Not'  by Rachel Anderson
  • Colouring Medium - Faber Castell Polychromes pencils
  • Dies - Square and Oval dies by me, Spellbinders Scalloped Squares and Tattered Lace Doily Coners

SPS - Munchies

Sweet Pea Stamps

Today is my day to showcase and image from Sweet Pea Stamps and I have chosen to work with the beautiful image Munchies by Karen Middleton which is available from the Sweet Pea Store as a digi.

I have decided to make a box to hold a muffin for a change, a nice wee gift to give to my friend on her birthday I hope <g>  Alas I have to buy the muffin as I can't cook and won't cook lol.

To begin with I made a template for the box and lid and then covered them with gift wrapping paper.
With all the corners glued and the acetate windows in place it was time to put the box to one side to dry.
I coloured the image with Promarkers and then chalked the background.
A simple tag was made using Spellbinders Scalloped ovals, the larger back one was covered in the wrapping paper before die cutting.  I then coloured a silver peel off sentiment with my Promarker and put this on the top section of the tag.
To finish off I added ribbon, buttons and Ice Stickles.

Ingredients:-
  • Image - Munchies by Karen Middleton which is available from the Sweet Pea Store as a digi.
  • Colouring Medium - Promarkers
  • Dies - Spellbinders Grand Scallop Ovals
  • Ribbon, Ice Stickles and buttons from my stash
