Greek Sea View

Challenge 90
Anything Goes with an optional TWIST .... Photo Inspiration

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

I am still trying to make a CAS card lol.  For this creation I used one of the images from the Greek Sea View series.  Following the optional twist theme - Photo Inspiration I also used the actual photo to create the colouring for design paper and the image.  The photo was placed into Photoshop and mega amounts of blurring were created to end up with a wonderfully soft line-less mix of the colours.  I then printed the paper to make the backing sheet.  Next I used the same paper (digital version) and placed Ike's Greek Sea View image on top.  It was then out with the rubber to remove all the areas of the blurred photo that I did not need leaving only the areas of the image coloured in.  The sentiment is stamped with distress inks, two colours to match in with the coloured image.

Ingredients:-
  • image - Greek Sea View by IKEsART
  • colouring medium - Digital and Distress Inks
  • gems, clear sentiment stamp, Spellbinder square and oval dies

PHOTO INSPIRATION

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

Oh I had such a fabulous time making this card, an image in my head and it all fell into place just as planned for once.  Gelli printing, oh how I love Gelli printing :) I have a wee Gelli plate which I bought a wee while a go to see what I thought of the process and now the hubby has treated me to the 12 x 14 inch plate I am in my element as it means I can create whole sheets of paper at a time instead of the small square areas. This card is the christening of the large plate and I am smiles all over lol.

To begin with I created my background by printing an A4 sheet of linen card using colours from the photo inspiration.  Next I used a card shape die cut I have and cut with my electronic cutter. Next I printed two of the Parthenon Horse , coloured with Promarkers and Polychroms and then fussy cut.  One of the horses was for the front of the card and the other for the inside (it was a mirror image).  I did this as I did not want the white card of the image I coloured to be visible through the cut out area when you looked inside the card.  Next I use the Tattered Lace Berries die and cut three from scraps of my Gelli printed card and edged each with red, green or gold glitter.  The final bits, were a lace border die cut with gold ribbon threaded throw, a gold bow and the Merry Christmas text die cut with matt gold card.

(I left the cut out sections on my cutting mat and then using transfer tape placed them colour side up on the inside of the card.  I did loose a three bits and no matter how hard I looked to find them I couldn't, the fairies stole them is my final conclusion so I then closed the card and used the cut out sections as a template to draw round onto the inside of the card with a gold pen and coloured in the sections. With the second of the Parthenon Horse images I coloured in place a wee lace border out of the last bits of my Gelli printed card was cut and used to finish off.
And just because I took a picture of it lol here is the back of my card showing my Gelli printing :)
Finally. here is the photo inspiration for you to follow in the challenge - lots of wonderful seasonal colours :)

Photo Inspiration with Ike

Time for another challenge over at

Photo Inspiration

Morning folks, hope you are having a good day today :)   It is week two of the IKEsWORLD challenge, Photo Inspiration and still plenty of time for you to enter.  Just remember, you must use and IKEsART image to be eligible for the prize.  Why not pop on over to the store, Ike produces the most amazing digs, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

Here is the inspiration photo we are using for the challenge (sorry I don't know the name of the artist, if you do please enlighten me) :)
To begin with I printed my work sheet with the digis I am using Cracker Cat and Bauble Cat, along with my basket outline, a bowl of what will hopefully be baubles to represent the bowl of fruit, part of my background paper and the photo for colour matching.  I am terrible with a theme like this, I know a photo inspiration challenge means you can you the layout, the colour etc. but I just love the challenge of trying to copy the original image :)
Next I airbrushed the top part of my card to match the back wall on the photo.
The bowl of fruit (now baubles) was such fun using lots of Stickles hahaha
Next I used a snowflake stamp and clear embossing powder on the red background. I did not really want this to show more just to catch a glimpse of the texture when the light caught it.
Promarkers were used to colour the pussy cats using colours from the image.
What a silly basket thing, but I was trying to get the effect of the basket in the image, one of those soft sisel types. For this I used brown crepe paper ruffled up.
The carpet was a dilemma, I had thought of material and also embossing some paper but when I saw in front of me a roll of embossed kitchen towel I thought I would give that a go instead.  I airbrushed it with Promarkers and later drew a sort of squared pattern on it with my black Promarker.
These are the Promarkes I have used in this creation.
So here we have the finished composition.  I did change the green part, from the dark green I had printed to this embossed paper.  The card needed more texture and lightening and I think this works better.
I do hope the original artist of the painting won't be offended by my interpretation hahahaha
