Challenge #74
Monochromatic

This fortnights challenge Monochromatic has been chosen by me. Sometimes I just want to play without thinking big time on what colours to use and monochromatic is my go to when in this mood.  I also find it is a great way to get me out of my comfort zone of blues and purples lol. My personal challenge with this card was to use vellum.  3 attempts later I gave up on stamping on the vellum with the flowers as it just was not working the way I wanted it to but I was determined vellum would be used somewhere so settled on the sentiment.

For this card I used a Sheena Douglas stamp called Dalia which I stamped with embossing ink and then heat embossed with white WOW powder onto a pale mottled peachy cream background paper.  To lift the colour in the flowers I used Copic E00 and to create the very pale shadows around the flowers E000. The label was a nightmare, I wanted the colour paper as an underlay with the text stamped and heat embossed on vellum with a fancy border.  Alas I did not have a die that worked for this, even trying over the edge dies with lacy edges, looked pretty but not the right size in the end, to big.  Eventually, about 4 hours later and lots of scraps in the bin I used a small border die and cut 3 of them then very carefully attached these to a vellum rectangle which I embossed the text on and was then able to put my coloured paper underneath.  It was pretty hard trying to match up the corners at the right hand side so I could disguise where the joins were but am pretty happy with the way it turned out. A very simple looking card the certainly gave my brain cells a workout lol.  The finishing touch of a few flat backed pearls was the final life the card needed.

Challenge #18
MONOCHROMATIC

Something a little different for a change.  So often when I do monochromatic I head for a beautiful digi to colour and indulge in hours of colouring with only a few shades of one colour, I find that totally therapeutic lol.  Don't ask why I deviated this time, I have no idea but here you go a card with just stamping and die cutting.  At least this one will fit in an envelope and travel through the post safely, that makes a change for me :)

Monochromatic Shoe

Time for another challenge over at

Monochromatic

Morning folks, hope you are having a good day today :)   It is week two of the IKEsWORLD challenge, Monochromatic, and still plenty of time for you to enter.  Just remember, you must use and IKEsART image to be eligible for the prize.  Why not pop on over to the store, Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

Oh how I love shoes (I am not in the least girly or a lover of shopping but mention shoes and ooooooo, I get girly in relation to my feet and will even go shopping).  Can you imagine my glee when I saw the wonderful shoe digs Ike had drawn - all goosebumps and could not wait to find a reason to use at least one of them.  The shoe I used is part of a set of 4 'Shoe Set of 4' and this one is called Blossom Shoe.

So here we are, my shoe card for the Monochromatic Challenge :) :) :) :)

Now pretty shoes are expensive so the first thing needed for my card is a piggy bank for that saving fund <g>.  I designed and then cut on my Cougar a wee piggy bank to hang on the card.  Once cut and the text in place I air brushed with Magenta Promarker.
Next was to mix some embossing power for the shoe using Hot Pink and Silver.
OOps, I missed showing here I also used ultra fine shocking pink glitter which was used on the heart.  For the roses, I coloured with Promarkers and then glitter embossed the shoe, added Glossy Accents tot he roses and went over the leaves with Pink Liquid Pearls.  What fun I had doing all this :) :) :)  I finished of die cutting the shoe and adding more Liquid Pearls.
 Close up of the shoe.
 Promarkers used.
Next was to sort the other bits needed. I printed the text and cut for two of the mounts, then added pink sparkly mesh behind the digi.  Pink ribbon, pink bow and some pink roses were also raked out the box of yummy embellishments.  The card was covered with rose paper but I have no idea where I got it, think it might have been the Range.
And here is the finished card which also includes a penny in the piggy back - after all every penny counts :)

Ingredients:-
  • Digi - Shoe Set of 4' I used Blossom Shoe.
  • Promarkers
  • DP, mesh, Liquid Pearls, glitter, embossing powders, flowers, ribbon, bow from my stash
