Sing Us A Song

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

Are you a lover of music?  I love listening to music but never pay any attention to the name of the song or who is singing it so this challenge is a real toughy for me :), I normally end up choosing an image I fancy working with and then do a hunt for a song which works with the image.  This time I think I landed on my feet hahahahaha. I fancied a male card for a change and love the image Ike has drawn 'Massey Ferguson TE20' and then my hunt on the net for a song came up with 'Big Green Tractor' by Jason Aldean

To create my card I first made my background paper using Brusho powers, these are such good fun and easy to use too.  Next I hunted out some lime green papers to add some brightness and olive/orange ribbon for contrast.  The tractor was coloured with Promarkers and Polychoroms and then fussy cut at added to the card with foam tape.  The tree was cut with a Tatter Lace die - Tree of Wonder and the text using Spellbinders sentiments. I finished off with a chipboard lamb which I coloured green (it looks more like a woolly horse to me hahaha)

I am just having a bit of fun here.  Last week I made a card using the Tamini stamp and paper pack and entered into the Digitally Sweet Challenge.  Although my papers were digital the image was printed and hand coloured and the card assembled using dies, Stickles, gems etc.  I had some lovely feedback from so many lovely ladies but Granmargaret who said - 'Lovely work. Thank you for joining the challenge at Digitally Sweet. Hope to see you again next time. Next time we hope you will try to make a 100% digital project', did give me a chuckle and I decided to rise to the challenge.

So here is a digital version of the card I previous entered which was hand crafted, using Tamini digital papers and the Tamini pre coloured image by Coosty Creations.

I created most of my digital work using Photoshop - the backing paper from the pack was brought into the program and I added an embossed texture.  Next I brought in the green paper and used this to make the green border of the horizontal strip, on top of that I added another of the papers from the pack.  Next was the green paper again to make the border around the image and then the large floral paper to create the background behind the stamp.  The pre coloured image was brought in next on two separate layers, the bottom layer was faded to 20% to give the transparency I wanted and the second layer had the wings rubbed out.  To add the pearls as veins I nipped back into Illustrator and created a brush from a pearl to make my strands and then drew the pearl veins over an image of the stamp I had open.  The pearl veins were then copied and pasted into Photoshop (I am much more of an Illustrator user than Photoshop and often use that for things I know I can do in Photoshop but am more comfortable doing in Illustrator).  Back into illustrator to create the medallions using another of the digital papers and placing in a clipping mask, this was then copied and pasted on two layers in Photoshop.  Back to Illustrator to make my buttons using circles and the Compound Path tool, these were also copied and pasted into Photoshop.  For the sentiment, well, I often plan my cards in Illustrator in the evenings as I find it easy to focus when it comes to making the card through general crafting methods if I can visualise the end result, and so, the sentiment had already been created in my original planning totally digitally so I just pinched that and pasted it onto my digital card in Photoshop.  Each layer had shadows added to give some depth to the end result.  I hope you approve Granmargaret with my effort to recreate my original hand crafted card as a totally 100% digital version :) :) :)

Challenge 260 Theme 

'Anything Goes with WINGS'

Ahhh, wings, so many choices and for me it is always fairies or butterflies :)  This fortnight I have used a Coosty Creations set -  Tamani Digital Stamp and Paper Pack.  I fancied a challenge so thought I would use all four papers that come with this digital stamp :)

I first used one of the papers to create the base mat for my card.  Next I added some lace and used two more of the papers to create border strips one of which I also die cut with a lacy border.  Next I printed the green paper and used it to make my contrasting mat behind the image and also for the base of my ribbon border.  Onto a bit of digital work, one of the papers was used and I then placed the .png version of the file on top of it and printed this twice.  I wanted to try to make the wings appear transparent so first covered them with transparent texture paste, then sprayed them with gold glitter varnish.  Ummm, not quite what I wanted so I then used Ice Stickles and painted them with that and finished off by using gold Stickles for the veins.  Rather pleased with the outcome as they really do look fragile and transparent, just as I imagine fairy wings should be.  On the second printout of the image I coloured the fairy with Promarkers and Polychromos and then fussy cut her out and mounted her in the correct position with foam tape so it appears the wings are truly behind her.  To finish off I made the sentiment and coloured three flower brads with my dark green Promarker and added gold Stickles to them.  All done and I am rather chuffed with how this card has turned out, think I will send it to my Mum as she has fairies at the bottom of her garden :) :) :)

Rainy Days

Rainy Days - in Saudi that is something I don't see very often hahaha, however, to all our surprise, a couple of weeks ago we had 10 days in a row with rain.  It was not the heavy short downfalls we are used to that last a couple of days a couple of times a year but 10 days of on/off showers, much more like what I am used to when in the UK and boy, after 10 days we were all fed up over here.  That made mw feel a bit bad as with rain being something in short supply, the ground loved it as did the plants (the desert is blooming now and looks magical) but rain and I are not that pally.  Rain makes me feel quite 'blue' hence a blue card from me :)

I created the background with Spectrum Noir tints and then added Brusho for some texture effects.  Raking through my stamps I found one that was perfect so that too was added to the background.  Next I printed and fussy cut the image and added it to my background before colouring, not something I usually do but certainly much easier than colouring and then cutting afterwards.  The umbrella is the one bit of bright colour here, a rainbow umbrella it had to be to make me smile in the rain hahahaha.  The image was coloured with Promarkers and Polychromos pencils.  Next I stamped some rain using silver ink and used an embossing wood folder which kind of looked like ripples of water along the bottom edge.  To finish off I added some sparkly pre made blue flowers and added blue gems to the centre of each.

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.  The prize this month is an awesome digi pack containing several images and a paper pack too - how cool is that.

Theme 'Anything Goes with DISTRESSING

Distressing is so much fun and with all the techniques around one is spoilt for choice.  I did try something a bit new for me with this card, printing and colouring the image on vellum, it gave a fabulous effect when I distressed the edges.

Once I had printed and coloured the image and put it against the black card it was not as dramatic as I hoped it would be so I coloured the reverse side of the vellum with black Pan Pastels - much better.  I then mounted this on black card and distressed the edges.  Next I cut a couple of doilies, one in black and one in silver.  The card shape design was done on my die cutter.  Next I took a piece of black card and crumpled it all up, then sprayed it with silver glitter spray, it does not show up very well but is lovely and textured.  This was then mounted on another piece of black card to strengthen it and the edges also distressed.  Finally some black and silver trip and oh yes, a thinking of you sentiment stamped with silver ink.

The inside of the card also got a fair bit of attention with an rose stamped with silver ink and cut out using a circular Spellbinder die, once again the edges were distressed.  The writing area looked too perfect so I grabbed the black Pan Pastel and dabbed some on then smudged it around well with my finger and finally used sandpaper to roughen all the paper up.  Very cool and do much fun :) :) :)
