Snowman

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.  The prize this month is a $10 coupon to spend in the store :)

Challenge 277 Theme

'Anything Goes with LOTS OF SPARKLE'

My final creation for the OSAAT design team for 2016,  a layered card in white with silver accents in keeping with the theme 'Lots of Sparkle'.  The image used is Snowman by Coosty Creations.
This challenge will run for a whole month to give the DT a wee break over the festive holidays so you have plenty of time to join in :)

To begin with I printed and fussy cut the snowman then coloured with Promarkers.  Next lots of silver and white glitter :).  The card base was edged with silver, just for a bit more dimension.  Two lots of die cutting using Spellbinders Victorian Medallion 3 and Tonic Studio Trellis Circle.  Both these die cuts were embellished with and/or Silver Stickles and clear glass gems.  I used a rubber stamp sentiment for the centre of the circle and used silver ink.
Once all the die cut sections were complete and in place I added my snowman using a wobble - should have taken a picture of him wobbling as he is rather cute :) :) :) but I forgot and now the camera is put away grrrrr.

When die cutting the Tonic Studio Trellis Circle left with a pretty border circle die cut so instead of throwing it away I coloured it in silver and used it to frame a writing area on the inside of the card.  The addition of a Tattered Lace Snowflake and another glass gem brought everything together perfectly.

Ingredients:-
  • Image -Snowman by Coosty Creations
  • Colouring medium - Promarkers
  • Dies - Spellbinders Victorian Medallion 3, Tonic Studio Trellis Circle, Tattered Lace Snowflakes
  • From my Stash -  Silver pen, silver Stickles, glass gems, wobble attachment, google eyes, white and silver glitter

PHOTO INSPIRATION

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

Oh I had such a fabulous time making this card, an image in my head and it all fell into place just as planned for once.  Gelli printing, oh how I love Gelli printing :) I have a wee Gelli plate which I bought a wee while a go to see what I thought of the process and now the hubby has treated me to the 12 x 14 inch plate I am in my element as it means I can create whole sheets of paper at a time instead of the small square areas. This card is the christening of the large plate and I am smiles all over lol.

To begin with I created my background by printing an A4 sheet of linen card using colours from the photo inspiration.  Next I used a card shape die cut I have and cut with my electronic cutter. Next I printed two of the Parthenon Horse , coloured with Promarkers and Polychroms and then fussy cut.  One of the horses was for the front of the card and the other for the inside (it was a mirror image).  I did this as I did not want the white card of the image I coloured to be visible through the cut out area when you looked inside the card.  Next I use the Tattered Lace Berries die and cut three from scraps of my Gelli printed card and edged each with red, green or gold glitter.  The final bits, were a lace border die cut with gold ribbon threaded throw, a gold bow and the Merry Christmas text die cut with matt gold card.

(I left the cut out sections on my cutting mat and then using transfer tape placed them colour side up on the inside of the card.  I did loose a three bits and no matter how hard I looked to find them I couldn't, the fairies stole them is my final conclusion so I then closed the card and used the cut out sections as a template to draw round onto the inside of the card with a gold pen and coloured in the sections. With the second of the Parthenon Horse images I coloured in place a wee lace border out of the last bits of my Gelli printed card was cut and used to finish off.
And just because I took a picture of it lol here is the back of my card showing my Gelli printing :)
Finally. here is the photo inspiration for you to follow in the challenge - lots of wonderful seasonal colours :)

Ballerina

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.  The prize this month is a $10 coupon to spend in the store :)

Challenge 276 Theme

'Anything Goes with BUTTONS and BOWS'

Oh what a lovely change to make a card like this again, I so often go straight for square lol.  This is a regular DL card from a pack I have in my stash.  For this card I have used the image Ballerina by Stitchy Stamps
I first printed the sillouette ballerina image and text sentiment on a gold patterned paper and then covered my card base with this.  Next I die cut lots of wee flowers in the same gold paper and edged the petals with a tiny bit of black Pan Pastel.  The leaves were cut from Cottage Cuts Bella Leafy Branch which I then snipped each of the branches and single leave from the main stem.  Two of these were cut in black card and when I had all my bits I then reassembled them on stems I had drawn on the card to create a floral border.  The final part of the card was to add my bow and some black buttons.
Using bit I had left over, a bit of gold paper and a couple of leafy sections I also decorated the inside of my card.

Ingredients:-
  • Image - Ballerina by Stitchy Stamps
  • Colouring medium - Pan Pastels
  • Dies - Flower die but can't remember who by grrr and Cottage Cuts Bella Leafy Branch
  • From my Stash -  gold embossed paper, ribbon and buttons

THANKSGIVING

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

I was just sitting in my craft room the other day and feeling like the luckiest crafter on earth :) :), I am so lucky hubby is such a fab supporter of my hobby and over the years I have invested every penny I have earned from my crafts back into new supplies.  I remember when I started crafting about 8 years ago that I had some basic start out supplies, a few kits, lots of paper and a head bulging with ideas.  The problem started when I wanted to do something and just did not have the basics to make my elements and I had outgrown many of the fancy items I bought in the beginning, things like punches which I never really got to grips with, fancy edge scissors which were a great idea but hard on the hands etc. Now I just seem to have 90% of what I want (guess it will never be 100% hahaha), lovely die cutters - Silver Bullet and Crafters Companion Gemini, a fab collections of dies, awesome colouring mediums, buttons galore, ribbon, sprays, varnishes etc. My craft room truly flies me away to another universe, provides all I need to forget this world for a while and recharge my batteries, a little bit of heaven.

Many years ago I used to do water colour painting but arthritis in my hands at the age of 17 put paid to that once I was in my 20's as I could no longer hold the fine 00 and 1 paintbrushes I used to use. Hubby recently bought me a tin of watercolour pencils so for this challenge I have given them a go, not as nice to use as a real tin of paints yet but maybe with practice I will fall in love :) :) :)

A straight forward card which really is all about the image - Cornucopia by IKEsART.  Image coloured with water colour pencils, background is Pan Pastels.  To finish off a double ribbon line and Spellbinder scalloped border with half of the centre die from Opulent Circles, one on each side.

Ingredients:-
  • image - Cornucopia by IKEsART
  • colouring medium - Watercolour pencils and Pan Pastels
  • dies - Spellbinders Scalloped Borders 1 and Opulent Circles
  • from my stash - ribbon

Buck Wild

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.  The prize this month is a $10 coupon to spend in the store :)

Challenge 275 Theme

'Anything Goes with Autumn Colours'

This fortnight I am working with the image Buck Wild by Reeces Scrap Pieces, a gorgeous digital image to colour or in this case work with digitally to create a needlework applique effect.

To  begin with I placed the image into Photoshop and by creating multiple layers added my pattern fills for each area.  Once done I printed the image and added the black stitching lines by hand.  The image was then mounted on black paper.  For the background on the card base I used the Hexagon die by Sarah Davis of Crafters Companion and scraps of brown and yellow papers I had lying around.  WOW that took me ages but I do love the outcome LOL.  To finish off I added three skeleton leaves and a die cut called Love Land Corner by Memory Box.  I kept all the hearts that were part of the cut out design (obvious in a 'use lots of scraps day today) and used them to decorate the left side of the card.  Each heart and heart cut out area was embellished with a yellow glass heart gem.  Last bit was to ad my text using the Die'sire die, Just Because.

Inside of card - saying as I had some hexagons left over and it seemed a shame to put them in the bin I used them to add a bit of decoration and finished off the edges with lines using a gold pen.

Ingredients:-
  • Image - Buck Wild by Reeces Scrap Pieces
  • Colouring medium - digital
  • Dies - Memory Box Love Land Corner, Die'sire Just Because, Crafters Companion Hexagon
  • From my Stash -  Gold pen, gems

REMEMBRANCE / MILITARY TRIBUTE

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

A while ago I bought the most gorgeous poppy die (Creative Expressions Sue Wilson Finishing Touches Collection - Exquisite Poppy Die Set) which I have been itching to use and here I have had the perfect chance :).

Ike has been a real superstar here as I wanted to make this card for my youngest daughter, Nicole, who is in the British Army.  Most of the image I see around for Remembrance are American themed as in the dress code which would not work this time so I asked Ike if she would draw my daughter in her British military uniform from a photo I have of her taken on the day she completed her Phase 2 training and became a fully fledged army girl.  My daughter is the one on the right :).  For the image I asked Ike to have Nicole saluting.

It only took a day or two and Ike got back to me with a wonderful image, very casual with a pose that in the real military world would be totally unacceptable and probably lead to a real ticking off with the big boys.  Ike, I think was worried it was overly casual but I would not let her change it, the image had the Ike feel through and through and no disrespect is intended in any shape or form.  If anybody is offended I apologise.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and Polychromos then attempted a field of poppies as the background using Pan Pastels.  Next the image was fussy cut and placed on the background.  The poppy sections were die cut and then each petal edged in black, the centre of each poppy was finished off with a black half pearl bead.  The leaves and text were also die cuts.

Ingredients:-
  • image - Nicole by IKEsART
  • colouring medium - Promarkers, Polychromos and Pan Pastels
  • dies - Creative Expressions Sue Wilson Finishing Touches Collection - Exquisite Poppy Die Set, Sizzix - 657939, Spellbinders - Victorian Medallion 3, Crafts Too Leaf Flourish, X Cut - Alphabet

Floral Vintage Mini Album

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.  The prize this month is a $10 coupon to spend in the store :)

Challenge 274 Theme

'Anything Goes with RECYCLING'

Take 2 of my effort for this challenge.  My first effort ended up in the bin lol - I made a box and covered it with sweetie wrappers which I have hung onto for about eight months. Unfortunately the week before making it I had a massive tidy up and threw all but three of the papers out - as you can imagine with just three sweetie papers to cover a box it was rather sad.  So now we have my second attempt, a mini album made from the inner tube of some cling film but into four sectons (I never think to keep toilet roll tubes grrr).  This really is a mini album lol but rather cute. After cutting my tube into four sections I covered each part with papers used from Floral Vintage 1 by Coosty Creations.  Next I used some old card I had printed unsuccessfully but did not chuck out cut my front and back covers plus four tags.  These were also covered with papers from the paper pack.  All the pages and tags were then rubbed around the edges with a gold ink pad.  Last week I got some great sentiment rubber stamps in the post so these were used to stamp text on each page and tag.  On the back of each tag I added a small plain die cut in which a personal message can be written.  Each of the page holders then had the same embellishments added, offcuts from some rose and gold lace, Memory Box Elegant Scrollwork die cuts which I then painted with a gold paint pen and white lace flowers with pearls in the centre.  The front cover page was given a little more treatment with a rose and humming bird which I made from clay and moulds I have for silver clay, these were then coloured with Promarkers and my gold paint pen.  I then used one of the papers again and mounted it on a bit of card to die cut my daughters initials N. B.  The tags were embellished with gold peel off stickers.

SPOOKY LOVE

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

A DL card for a change lol.  The background was created with yucky acrylic paints I have, they are very thick and plastic so not nice to work with but boy do they add texture to the end result :)  I know my end result is not very spooky (I see that as the dark side) but hopefully the essence of the card is spooky enough.  The image is an old one of Ike's :) :) Alice cat which I coloured to look like a tiger of sorts hahahaha.  Lots of die cuts finished off the card, a spider with googly eyes, spiders web, bats and sentiment.  The web die cut is from Sizzix the rest I made myself.

Thank You in orange and purple

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.  The prize this month is a $10 coupon to spend in the store :)

Challenge 273 Theme

'Anything Goes with HALLOWEEN COLOURS'

This fortnight I worked with the Lil' Monsters Paper Pack by Panda Bear Designs.   I only used two of the papers from the pack but there are 6 papers.  The thank you card was designed digitally (I am not a fan of Halloween so don't participate but a thank you card is always needed :) ) in three sections, the top layer, the base layer and the inside.  This was so I could add a bit of dimension to the card with the top layer.  The front of the card was finished off with black Stickles along the border between the orange and the purple.  I felt rather guilty with so much digital work but it is a great way to work with digital papers :) so I then made something I have been wanting to try for a while - lolly pop stick bracelets.  I printed two strips of the same paper which I had added a black design to the purple paper and 'Live....Love....Laugh' to the orange paper.  The stick were soaked in hot water and when soft enough were then wrapped round a furniture polish can to dry into the correct shape.  I then covered the outside of the bracelets with the digital paper, varnished then added black wool borders to both and another coat of varnish.

I am a great believer in the power of positive thought so love how the sentiment and the image 'Butterfly' I used on this card came together for the theme of 'Girl Power' with pink and breast cancer being the underlying meaning.

Ingredients:-
  • image - Butterfly by IKEsART
  • colouring medium - Promarkers
  • embossing folder - Tattered Lace Butterflies
  • dies - Tattered Lace Rose Corner, flower die free from a magazine
  • from my stash - silver bead string, ribbon, silver stamp pad, silver and pink metallic pens.

Challenge 272 Theme

'Anything Goes with MONOCHROMATIC'

I tried something I had not done before with this card :)  I love embossing on cards, guess that is because when holding a textured surface I always think the whole creation comes to life.  For this card I only wanted embossing in some areas so an embossing folder was not going to work well; so I used some of my swirly die cuts bits and placed them on the areas of the card I wanted de-bossed and ran this combination through my Gemini.  A great result, just what I wanted :) :) :)

Ingredients:-
  • Image - Angel 2 by IKEsART
  • Colouring medium - Promarkers, Polychromos, Pan Pastels
  • Dies - top of card modified from Monica's CraftRoom doily, Spellbinders Ovals, Memory Box swirl
  • From my Stash -  Flower Soft, blue glass embossing powder, sentiment stamp, ribbon, gems, wood chip bird

TAG you're it

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

A while ago I asked Ike if we could have some horse based images to work with and WOW was I spoilt with a lovely selection - thanks Ike :) :) For this tag I used the image 'Mother and Foal', the background was coloured with Pan Pastels and some clouds heat embossed.  Next I added some rubber stamping in black and die cuts also coloured with Pan Pastels plus a gold horseshoe.  The image was coloured with Polychromos.  Finally a wee thank you sticker was added to the tree.

This tag already has a home :) it will be attached to a wee gift I have for a friend who stepped in as foster mum to my horse while I was in the UK.  He (my horse lol) was on deaths door when I bought him in November last year and has given me the most incredible journey nursing him back to health with the help of an awesome team of friends.  So many challenges, one after the other but now we are on the final leg before he becomes a true horse in his own right and able to join the pack of other horses at the stables instead of just being surround by his human pack.  Jay, when I got him, was near to starving and had a nasty abscess on his hind quarter which took two months of constant cleaning and draining to clear up - that was after the vet released it and over a pint of puss literally came out with such force it sounded as if he was peeing.  The abscess had obviously never been treated and was deep within.  While that was clearing up another abscess developed inside his hoof, again the remnants of an old one that was never treated and was constantly reinfecting.  3 months of poulticing, cleaning, treating etc. eventually cleared that up but one of the eruption points was on the coronet band (where the hoof meets the hair line) so his hoof had two large holes in in which we have had to wait to grow out and keep our fingers crossed the hoof would hold in tack long enough that when it did break it was below the white line where the blood supply is.  All is well that ends well the hoof has now broken in a safe place and not worrying him at all, we have another abscess near where his balls used to be but quick treatment is working well and again this is not worrying him.  He has now put of weight, has an awesome shine on him and his heart has the biggest amount of love which he gives so freely even though humans have treated him so badly in the past :) :) :)

This was Jay in at the end of Nov 2105 when I go him

and this was him 2 months ago as he really turned the corner :) - not quite so skinny :)

Love Knot

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.  The prize this month is a $10 coupon to spend in the store :)

Challenge 271 Theme

'Anything Goes with A SPECIAL DAY'

I never seem to make suitable cards for love that work for me but  think this one turned out OK, it says what it should be is not girly in the least.  For this card I created the heart shaped card base and cut on my die cutter.  The rope image from the pack was printed, coloured with Polychromos and then fussy cut leaving the background of the heart shape in tack which was then coloured with Pan Pastels.
I hessian/burlap was then glued to the large heart shape which I also cut on my die cutter, such lovely texture and the part that I think makes this card more suitable for a bloke.  I embossed another strip of card with a Signature embossing folder and die cut the Sizzix twin hearts, both of these had Pan Pastel treatment lol.  Finally the sentiment was printed, cut with an X-Cut labels die and again rubbed a bit with Pan Pastels (I was trying to get a leather look here hahaha).
For the inside of the card I went for a lightweight hand made leaf paper I got ages ago, lovely texture and by using the reverse side which is a little rougher than the front side it will be easy to write on.

Ingredients:-
  • Image - Love Knot by Coosty Creations

  • Colouring medium - Polychromos, Pan Pastels
  • Dies - card dies by me, Sizzix Love set, X Cut labels
  • From my Stash -  leaf paper, hessian/burlap, heart brads

THINGS THAT FLY

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

I recently invested in a Gelli Plate as so many folks seem to have so much fun with it and I do love playing with paint :) :) hahahah.  For this card I used cheap acrylic tube paints, you know the sort, a box of 20 colours for $3 from a stationary shop and they work just great too.  The first layer of the printing was a mixture of red, blue and white to make a pinky mauve base and the next layer the same colours but less white and I also used the Signature Collection Butterfly Lullaby Die - Flit and Flutter for several butterflies which I laid on the Gelli Plate before putting my paper on again so I could get a butterfly pattern.  I then stamped in gold using a free stamp from a magazine.

The image was coloured with Promarkers and Polychromos and fussy cut.  Once my paper was dry I mounted it on card and die cut the shape then used Memory Box Peaceful Butterfly Wings. I did not like the butterflies as 3d on this card to removed them all so I could be left with just their outline. The scalloped edges were distressed to give more texture.  Next the sentiment was added and finally the butterfly image was added and this layer of the card added to the card base using foam tape so I had a real cut out feel to this card.  The card base is plain white linen card which I used Tim Holtz Amethyst distress ink for the edges to tone in with the paper I made.

Ingredients:-
  • image - Butterfly by IKEsART
  • colouring medium - Acrylic paints for Gelli printing, Promarkers and Polychromos
  • dies - Memory Box Peaceful Butterfly Wings, Spellbinders Scalloped Squares and Signature Collection Butterfly Lullaby Die - Flit and Flutter

Gelli Printed Doily Pillow Box

Ahhh, something a little different from me today :) I was recently a winner of the Challenge Up Your Life challenge with a suitcase box I made and today I am a very honoured to be a Guest Designer for their new challenge 'Doily'

I have so fallen in love with Gelli Printing and could not resist using this technique to make yet another box, this time a Pillow Box.

I started by making my background for both the box and accessories I wanted to use.  I first placed a layer of pearl paint which does not really show here but has a lovely sheen (where you are seeing the white areas).  Next I used turquoise paint and doilies and then the final layer was mauve paint which I sprayed with water to thin and dabbed some off before adding a wavy pattern.  I had thought I would use the left over small doilies but in the end gave up on that idea hahaha.
Next I used the Pillow Box pattern and cut out with my die cutter.  I am finding it great Gelli Printing my backgrounds on card and then using this with my die cutters, saves getting messy backgrounds :).  Using the spare background I made I cut a doily using a Sizzix die.  Onto the sentiment which is from Fiskars Make A Wish and a Spellbinder Triple Tear Doily die.  The sentiment was attached to the Sizzix doily with double layers of foam tape.  Still with background paper to spare I used the the Creative Expressions die to make my bow and the ribbon.  I coloured the back of the bow with gold paint and mounted the ribbon section on gold paper.  Finally I added some gold Mica chips on the right hand side of the box.
Now every wee box should have a gift in it so I raked out my cold enamelling kit and a copper heart blank.  Using colours to match my box I set to work.  The finishing touch was a silver flower I made from silver metal clay ages ago and was a bit of a disaster so sat around doing nothing.  The silver did not go with my box so I coloured it with gold paint.
And there we have it, my box and pendant and lots of fun this afternoon.  Thank you Challenge Up Your Life for the change be part of your DT this week :)

SQUARE CARD WITH SOMETHING ROUND

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

White space, just love it but boy do I find it hard to not remove it.  OK, so I am colour crazy and tend to colour everything but the elegance of white space is real beauty in my mind.  Anyway, for this challenge I tried my very hardest to give the white space the respect I have for it and fight the need to add more colour and texture hahahaha.

A simple card, the image was printed 5 times, one on the base mount which was then die cut and then the 4 other prints used to make the overlay circles.  I maybe should have attached each layer with foam tape to make this more obvious but I need the card to be pretty flat for posting.

Next I coloured the images and edged each circle in green along with the base mount to make the outlines more obvious.  To finish off a die cut sentiments and there we have it, nothing complicated but lots of fiddling about hahahaha.

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.  The prize this month is a $10 coupon to spend in the store :)

Challenge 269 Theme

'Anything Goes with FOR MEN'

I do love working with paper packs these days for coordinating themed papers, they lend themselves to wonderfully to die cuts :) :).
For this card I used the Oceans Blue paper pack by Panda Bear Designs, using 4 of the the 8 papers to make my themes fishing card.  Each of the paper sections were mounted on black paper after cutting and then I used some fish, a fisherman and fishing rod dies all cut in black to add more drama to the card.

Ingredients:-
  • Image - Ocean Blue paper pack by Panda Bear Designs
  • Dies - Spellbinder Squares, Memory Box Fish, Joy Crafts - Fisherman Standing and Fishing Fun Float and X-Cut labels
  • From my Stash -  black paper, birthday sentiment stamp
I am entering this card into the following challenges:-
Thanks for looking and hope you have a happy crafting day:)
