Poinsettia Cluster

Time for another challenge over at

Challenge 52
Ice and Snow

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, just remember, you must use and IKEsART image to be eligible for the prize.  Why not pop on over to the store too :), Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

For this fortnights challenge of Ice and Snow I decided not to go with blue and white which was my first instinct hahaha - red sounded cool.  I used the image Poinsettia Cluster  which I coloured with Polychromos.  The image was then fussy cut and placed on a card background which I had stamped trees on with silver ink and rubbed over with grey Pan Pastels.  I was not aiming for the trees to be visible ( you would not see them in a snow storm haha) but to just help with the texturing.  Next I added 3D dimensional glue and allowed it to run down over the background to make icicles.  To finish off the background I added Paper Lace Stickles and Docraft Snow Writer.  Next I added the image and added more Stickles and Snow Writer and finally I cut out a window frame and placed this on top so it appears the poinsettia cluster is a big bush of colour outside the window on a snowy, freezing cold day.
My card base was covered with some simple metallic paper with Happy Christmas printed on it.  The die used for the poinsettias I made is from Memory Box and the ribbon is from a Christmas pressie last year - nice bit of recycling.  The final touch is the addition of the Merry Christmas text cut using an Elizabeth Craft Designs - 745 merry christmas

For the inside of the card I used a bit more of my metallic paper and also a strip of the ribbon which I folded over.  One of the poinsettia flowers was also added.  Now I had a bit of an accident and ended up marking the inside of the card - a cover up job was needed.  First I rubbed the boo boo but could not remove all or it so I cut a stencil using Spellbinders Grand Scallop Ovals and placed this on my card then airburshed with my red Promarker - thankfully that worked just fine.

I am entering this project into the following challenges:-
