Challenge 263 Theme 

'Anything Goes with STITCHING real or faux'

I don't do CAS very often as I honestly find it very difficult.  Anyway I though I would give it a go for this challenge.  The digital papers for this creation are Lilac and Sage by Coosty Creations, a 10 piece paper pack and I wanted to use all the papers lol.  I printed 9 petal shapes for my flowers, 1 in each of 9 papers and then used the last paper and another print of one of the lilac papers for my base mats.  I faux stitched each petal and clued the sections together.  Next I used an X-Cut die of cross stitch to make the stems of the flowers allowing the green paper behind to show through.  To finish off a simple sentiment die cut and three mauve/purple buttons.  I do have to apologise for the rather grotty photo, I don't for the life of me seem to be able to take a good photo today, this is the third one that is pretty useless :) :) :)

At The Movies

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

Oh boy, this challenge is really like trying to find a black cat in a dark room when blindfolded to me :)  I can rarely stay awake long enough to watch a movie from beginning to end, have not been to a cinema since Jurassic Park (the first one) was released and have no idea about 99% of who actors and actresses are (I can name a few but if I bumped into them walking down the street who not be able to put a name to their face hahaha).  So how do I tackle a movie theme grrrrrr.  One of the sayings I use a lot with folks is 'you're a star' so that links in with movie star - that ended up being my starting point.

I used the image Xmas Star by IKEsART and coloured it rather simply with Promarkers.  To finish it off I used Glass Stickles spread all over the centre area.  Next I designed my background paper using movie symbols and printed this on yellow vellum and then embossed both the background paper and the matching top layer.  I created the movie strip and cut this with my Silver Bullet, then on acetate stamped some random patterns with Memento ink.  Alas this did not dry as I hope so I then sprayed black matt on the back and finished off on both side with Crafters Companion spray varnish to make it all stick :), the acetate negative strip was then stuck to the back of the cut film strip.  I so love the way the negatives have turned out, better than I imagined.  Finally I printed my wee sentiment and then assembled my card.

Challenge 262 Theme 

'Anything Goes with HOT COLOURS'

How nice to have a change :) I seem to have done so many cards with coloured images that this time when I had to work with a paper pack from Panda Bear I thought I would give a non coloured image card a go - normally I make boxes with paper packs.  This card started off with a different idea and went totally wrong so what you see here is a no planning, go with the flow and I have to admit I rather like the way it turned out.  Although it has a Chinese feel the message of peace is very dear to me with so many troubles in the world at this time.

I used three of the papers from the pack, the border dragon paper I printed twice so I could have a border on each side of my card. For the orange paper I embossed some small flowers with gold embossing powder then distressed the edges with Tim Holtz distress ink Brick Red.  The final paper I used was a pale orange with another dragon on it, I used the whole sheet of paper here but resized it to what was needed for my stamped Peace text.  The edges on this were also distressed.  Finally a rummage in my metal bits bag to find this rather smart silver embellishment with is airbrushed with red, orange and yellow Promarkers and then attached it with gold ribbon.  To finish off three more gold heat embossed flowers with red gems in the centres.

Challenge 63
EMBOSSING

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

I so love embossing lol, think it is because cards are so touchy feely with embossing on them.  For this challenge I decided to try and make a very simple card with mega amounts of embossing, that worked fine but boy, trying to photograph it with all the white gave me several headaches so I apologise now for the outcome.

I used the image 'Love Letters' and added a sentiment then printed and coloured using Promarkers and Polychromos, finishing off with a gold pen and some Stickles.  Next I cut the image using Spellbinders Grand Scalloped Squares.  To emboss the background I used and Embossilicous folder and my trusty hammer as I did not want the sentiment or the image to be embossed lol.  Next I cut the brown layer and embossed this using a rubber stamp and gold heat embossing powder.  For the card base I used the same embossing folder as earlier .  The final touches - heart die by Sizzix which was cut using the brown card and again stamped and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.  Next the mistake grrrrrr, I added some more gold Stickles and blob - one ugly blob amongst the neat ones.  What to do, I tried tidying it up, no joy, I tried removing it, no joy.  In desperation or many annoyance I took my finger and smudged all the Stickles into the background and then added some more gold embossing powder and heat embossed.  Well I could say it was meant to be but hay ho, accidents happen :) :) :) Each of the layers were attached with foam tape.

Challenge 261 Theme 

'Anything Goes with VINTAGE'

Oh how I love vintage, think I have a passion for lace, pearls and flowers :) :) :) For this Twisted Easel card I covered the front and base of the card in cream flower lace which has gold threaded in it.  Next I printed my image and text on velum and coloured the image with Promarkers and Polychromos.  I then distressed my velum with gold leaf powder on the back of the velum attached with a light adhesive spray and then used Tim Holtz distress ink pads and rubber stamps on the font to grunge it up a bit.  To finish off the front panel I then used the same lace I have for the rest of the card and added a ruffle behind the mat.  With that done I then made my bow embellishment by stringing three strands of pearls and attaching a metal charm to the end (two angel wings to represent the 'soul' in the text and a 'musical note' for the word music) and two chains of copper bead chain and the bow from the same lace as before.  I added a Tattered Lace die cut using Musical Notes in keeping with the card theme and bent it so it would look like musical notes emitting from the roses.  Next it was onto the text writing area where I have used the Spellbinders Diamond Essence doily then used Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms to make my roses.  Two further gold metal embellishments were added and a little more of the copper bead chain to make a final flourish.
